I love the vh4, i feel dirty saying that after many years of saying i hate the vh4.
But my feelings have changed and its one of my favorite amps and the amp ive played most in the last 3 months.

Because the newer ones sound better IMO. Peter must think so as well, hence the changes.
Im glad peter made the changes or i would still hate the vh4.
Funny how its minor and some dudes say they cant really hear the difference, but theres also guys like us that hear it. Whatever he did was enough to make me love the amp. Everybodys ears hear different things.

No doubt!

congrats, but that was a pretty boring vid. I didn't gel with the VH4 and I felt that I needed an OD to get me where I wanted it to be. Great product and customer service but in the end it was not my cup of tea. I wonder how long you will keep this amp seeing what you already have there...

What a great amp to own! Congrats!
I had an Einstein and a Herbert. Both were nice but I ended up parting with them for various reasons as there were a few things on each that didn't sit right with how I was using them. I was thinking about this while reading your thread.......if I had gotten the VH-4 in the first place, I probably would still have it. Sometimes you just make the wrong decision.

Thankfully! I'm extremely happy with what I have now.

I decided to go Torpedo just to learn about the amp without having to blow my ears out.

Keeps the home standing too

Guys - this amp is out-f'n standing and I have a lot of amps!!!! More clips coming.
Head and shoulders above alot of amps right?
I too went thru a TON of various amps....high end....low end...boutique...modded.....etc. :D
The VH4 is in its own league for myself.

Yeah man the first time I tried a VH4 I hated it. Then I tried HardnHeavys Blue faced VH4 and it was absolutely smoking! Other than an SLO and a VHT UL you seem totally set in the high gain dept.

The clarity is insane!!! Not as unforgiving as I thought it was ...just gotta get the settings in a certain spot
I remember when I first got mine.....guy described it as "listening to a CD clarity"....
wasnt sure what he ment. Even when I first got it. Didnt gel with it(coming off a Mesa Mark III)
But once I got it set up how I like....WOW!
My mistake was tone chasing...."If the VH4 is this great....the HERBERT MUST be better)" :D
It was different.....but for what I liked/wanted .....not better. VH4 Kills.
Saving my pennies for another one (Damn near there) ;)

The last clip sounded pretty killer, let's hear some more!

No.

The original VH4s were blue. And they sound different. Darker. More mids. Then they became silver/grey. Slight change in tone. Then another slight change in tone around 2007 I think. Peter released a run of "blue face reissues" but they sound identical to the 2007+ models. Just a cosmetic difference.

Hey buddy, why don't you post the good news into the Diezel Forum?
Btw, don't post the VH4 EVH vid. I guess Peter will dislike the Mickey Mouse sound like he uses to call it. But I like it!!!!

I actually think these are some of your best recorded sounds

I fell in love with the VH4 straight away. Parted with one & bought another one a year or so later. My tone-hunting kinda stopped there.

I find it difficult to describe the sound of a VH4 when someone asks. It's just a really well-balanced platform. I know people who didn't like if for that very reason in that it's pretty non-descript. It doesn't really have a specific tonal feature. Most of the amps that sound unique tend to be one-trick ponies. The VH4 just seems to do a lot of things very very well without being extreme in any one area.
Plus, the components were made in Cybertron by Autobots.

Because the amp runs pretty dry on its own, it accepts ancillary equipment very well. The VH4 really comes into its own with overdrive & compression out front I think, especially Ch1 & Ch2.
Overdriven CH2 is absolutely killer. Compressed cleans are really rewarding.

I wished i could play my vh4, ive been moving houses and stuff is all over the place. I gotta try and organize my doom room.

Hot Rodded 80ies Marshall Sound.

I use a rocktron midi raider with my Diezel Herbert.
