Well, as luck would have it, I scored Dual Rectifier Serial #98 off of craigslist. It sounds pretty darn good! Cosmetically it is certainly not mint, but it has been toured with and used in a studio for the last while. I need to compare it to my Tremoverb that I snagged from 'Themagiceight' which he modded to sound like a pre500. It's definitely close. Look for a video in the next few weeks.

I love Rectos. That one is a real nice piece of history, I'd think.

Nice score, congrats! Definitely looking forward to seeing how accurate his pre-500 mod is. His clips sounded great!

Same here! Congrats on the NAD.

Sweet man, congrats, I look forward to the comparison video.

I would love to play a pre 500 in person but from what I can tell, my 2 ch triple that I modded to pre 500 specs (same as TheMagicEight did) sounds identical to clips recorded of Pre 500's that are miced identically

Congrats!!

What is the pre-500 mod? What are the details?

If the pre-500 Rectos have the MK 3 transformers, how can a mod possibly duplicate this ? At least thats one of the stories on the differences

Here is a link the the Pre-500 mod (http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=58838)

Like I said, I need to do a video, but my late 90's Tremoverb with this mod sounds very close to the Rev. C I just got. In fact, I would much rather take the T-verb out on gigs since it actually has a clean channel. The Revision C has a clean mode, but it is literally unusable.

But yeah, the Revision C Recto is killer. Amazing high gain tones. It is going to kill in the studio!
