 new amp day!

heavy little focker...

A little nervous...box was from shit, ragged and torn, very thin cardboard. amp was double bubble wrapped with white circus peanuts fluttering all around, really dislike the circus peanuts man... anyway....

a couple of the aluminum tube shield (bases) got bent. they bubble wrapped the power cord, fs cord, casters and tubes and wedged them all in the cavity under the chassis, bending the shield bases. shouldn't be a huge deal, assuming i can bend back so the shield will actually fit.

none of the tubes are marked...assuming they all match, shouldn't matter a great deal which V i stick it

Congrats man

Have fun with it. Would like you hear your tonal impressions. I wouldn't worry about the shields fitting back on. I remove all the shields from my amps. But that base! Fvck that. I would get EVH to at least send you a new one of those. Also, what do you mean none of the tubes are marked?

It was a used amp so fender/EVH probably won’t send me anything, I may be able to beat up the seller a little. I Picked it up from flEbay.

Re: marking the tubes...The only time i have pulled tubes I marked where they were pulled from so I could put them back in the same V-socket. Of course that was for having them tested. Oh well

I got it all put together so to speak. Plugged it up
And blared it for a bit a lunch today. And played it at a little lower volume after dinner this evening.

We’re on our Honeymoon of course but I do like this amp. A lot.
the power sweep works very well. The on board reverb sounds good. Haven’t put anything in the loop yet but sure it sounds good. It’s punchy but not bass heavy/boomy. Nice saturation and sustain. I can see where some folks wouldn’t like the voicing/distortion. It gets a little fizzy/sizzle to it especially at low volumes. But I’ve found working the presence/resonance and gain pots can tame it right down. The EQ is very interactive and between that the resonance and the presence knobs you can dial in a bunch of tones. The concentric pots on gain and volume for the blue and green channels is the bomb.

it’s obviously not plexi style but I definitely get modded 80’s marshall in it. It’s got more gain than any man should need. Lol. And like most all amps it sounds fuller and better with volume. IMO the sweet spot on this thing isn’t to far up the dial: about 25% volume swept to 25w power and it it’s there and not loud AF.

Oh gotcha. Didn't realize it is a used amp. You should be able to find those tube bases and many places (like AMS, Tube Depot, AES, etc). Glad everything else is working as it should. And yeah, I def would want my pot concentric.

Damn, you went for the gusto! Probably a killer amp! I'm sure, (if they're factory tubes), the preamp is all JJ ECC83S's, so it wouldn't make a difference where you put them. I've been curious what they would sound like with JJ KT77's, and biased a bit warmer. I remember the 6L6 being factory biased at around 32mA, when they should be 36-38.

Oh, I'd definitely contact the seller. He might tell you UPS packed it! I swear, every "will have professionally packed by UPS or Fedex" I've received lately looked like pics in OP.

....you know i kept looking at/for a Mini-Jube, but i just couldn't find what i wanted in the price range before the RomainianReaper picked one of the 112El34's up...had me all wet. there were only a couple used so i snatched one up... so far, not disappointed at all.

oh, and the damn thing was shipped upside down...don't even know if that's a big deal either. from a weight/top heavy perspective i kind-of get it, but damn man. o_O these pics are how it was received. Kudos to the girls and boys at UPS...b/c they could've torn this mf'r all-the-way-apart.
