I picked up a 6505+ after having a 6505 on order for months, getting screwed on a used 05, and clicking on used ads that somehow sold right as I was clicking add to cart.

Anyway I saw this one on GC used section for 670 which is lower than others I've seen lately. I refuse to spend 800-900 at reverb for a used one no matter if it's a US made or Chinese one then getting hit with tax and shipping you might as well just order a new one.

Nice pickup man, beast of an underrated amp, especially here.

I had the Kartakou Colossus twice and I preferred the ii/+ side which surprised me. That's a cool preamp but for me personally I prefer the head. I forgot how freaking loud this thing is. It also looks awesome on my KSR cab

Nice, man. I also prefer the II/+ to the 5150/6505. The latter is better if you’re after the darker and super saturated, nasty and angry 5150 sound, but former is more versatile and cuts better.

Congrats . Every collection needs a 5150 of some sort in the stable
I couldn't agree more. Personally I feel like I should always have a Mesa Mark, a hot rodded Marshall and a 5150 type. I'm finally there again after having to sell some amps over the years.

I have a Ceriatone 2204 on order and I feel like I'm done amp shopping unless I can score enough to get a Wizard or Larry which will probably never happen. The Omega Granophyre is the only other amp that is in my price range that I'm the least bit tempted by.

I need to get another mxr 10 band for this amp though. A 10 band in the loop of these just kill.

Wizard is def worth the experience IMHO if you ever get the opportunity. Most unique amp I've owned.

10 band MXR is an absolute necessity for me, regardless of amp.

If I ever had the cash for a Wizard I would do it but 5k new... I don't know if I could ever swing that and feel ok with my purchase. I would feel my playing doesn't deserve that amount of investment although I said that about guitars that cost more than a grand. I'm down to 3 guitars and all of them are north of 2k and I can tell a difference. They made my other guitars feel like toys.

Used is definitely the way to go. I hear ya...that's why I've sold so many, but I always crave that thing that only the Wizard does and wind up back on one. Again with ya on guitars. I got a Mayo a couple years ago and it is just on another level.

Either one, wizard or Larry, is something you HAVE to experience if you haven't yet. They're totally different from eachother, but both amazing in their own ways. Unique.

However, lots of people are completely happy with a 2203/2204 and a pedal, and I can see why. Especially for certain players, it evokes that era of guitar in a special way.

I would just say try a MTL or Dino out if you can ever get a shot - even if it isn't your thing and you prefer the 2204.

5150 in general get a lot of flak from those that aren’t running them where they are meant to be run - around 3-4 on the volume at minimum. All of that nasty top end people complain about goes away and it really turns into a killer amp of a whole new beast.

The entire lineup isn’t really bedroom friendly at all. I keep mine around because I KNOW what it can do at band volume and it does it all day long not even breaking a sweat. They’re damn reliable except for the newer 5 pin DIN footswitch plugins.

Congrats on finding one. I’m glad they’re coming around again. I’ll never get rid of mine, I don’t care how little respect someone else has for it. They deliver the goods and do it well.

Just get on the Larry list . It sucks but I’m on it . They just never pop up used anymore so I finally ordered

My work is making my current work load a permanent position but I still have to apply for it on Monday. I'm almost certain I will get it and if I do that puts me up 2 full rungs up on our corporate ladder. The first thing I thought when my boss sent me the heads up on the job being posted was "I'm gonna get a Larry".

Hopefully I will know by next month but it would be pretty cool to have one. I imagine it would be something that you would never sell.

I gotta get a footswitch for it and my Ares. I connected the Fryette ps2 up to it last night so I could open it up without shattering the windows. Even the 60 watt VTM's will make a load box sweat.
