Every one of the twenty amps you've bought and sold over the last year is "the greatest amp ever" according to you. You have zero credibility anymore and you couldn't dial in an amp to save your life. They all sound like fizzy over gained, down tuned garbage. You make every amp you play sound worse than a solid state Marshall mg. Give it up already. You have zero ear for tone.

Bloodrock, if you've got something personal against Reza just get it out. If it's jealousy, well, that sucks. If it's envy, well, that sucks too. But dissin' the dude for throwing down properly done clips is like saying you hate air. You may hate it - but in this world of trying to understand amps from one's computer screen - we kinda rely on them to get an idea as to what the amp can do. Some are shitty clips, some are good clips. Reza's actual job revolves around SOUND MANAGEMENT AND AUDIO RECORDING so going off about his "ear" and capabilities from your chair (unless you sit at the helm of a Neve with soundproof glass in front of you) is like a farmer telling a mechanic he's milking the fuel injector improperly.

Keep the peace.

Sounds decent. A bit on the high side. But very nice. I still think a 6505 is more of a monster but to each their own.

That was a great demo man.
I can only imagine how it must be in the room. ;)

Every one of the amps that he's bought and sold over the last year would probably be on a "greatest amp ever" list, so control your jealousy. To say that Reza has zero ear for tone only goes to show that YOU have zero ear for tone. Why don't you post up some clips and show him how it's done?

That's very true of yourself if you actually thought that demo sounded bad.

He just threw the grenade and ran

The 6505+ is a monster. From cleans to full bore. Killer.

Not my cup of tea, but good work with the demo vid. It's good and proper.

He throws like a girl.

I would love to hear more demos using the torpedo studio so you can really crank these amps up!

Not mine either. I was just over at the Mailman's Engl thread. If you're going for heavy, that thing lays waste.

Carl ?

hmmm I also think that these amps will only sound good with a darker mahogany guitar like an LP standard or PRS customs. Cause I can't really imagine anything else jive with that base sound.

But i guess that's how it's supposed to be. I can already see people with ESP->EMG81s bashing it for how harsh and compressed it sounds when they run it..

Oh and one more thing - I can totally imagine running the butterslax through the friedman/scumback speakers. That would also take care of the things that some of us may have disliked about the tone.

Well.

Lets start at WOW.
Next, I will have to say this is BY FAR the BEST Friedman Amp ever made.
I have owned many, I have played them all. But for MY style, which is HEAVY rocking Riffs and tight midrange snarl THIS AMP is out of this world.
I just mic'd up a newish Celestion V30 with an SM57 in a Bogner Uberkab and went off for 15 minutes. Its not LOUD but its Not Quiet. The Masters on this amp are amazing. My only regret is not being able to REALLY get the swirling magic of what happens in the room captured here, but for a single mic on a speaker its not too bad.

5 minutes on the "Clean" channel, which has one of the nicest breakup style cleans I have ever played. Its squishy and when you crank the gain its just glorious. I could play on this channel all day alone.

5 Minutes on the 2nd Channel which is one of the strongest "Rhythm" channels of any of the amps I have played to date. There is so much snarl and detail in the mids here, The low end CAN be HUGE and it still retains the rest of the EQ spectrum. I don't know how Dave Friedman does it.

5 minutes on the 3rd "Lead" channel which has its own master. This channel is THE most METAL channel you will ever hear from a Friedman. I can see some INSANE metal albums being cut with this channel, and you DONT NEED TO PIN the Gain AT ALL!. But really , it can get LIQUID lead here.

Gain around noon or 1 o'clock is MORE THAN enough but I LOVE that there is SO much more USABLE gain to add on every channel.

If you are looking at Friedman's right now. I would 100% say get this amp. Unless you want a Dirty Shirley or Buxom Betty. THIS in my opinion just is the most serious monster of them all.

Here is a vid

great review sound like it kills!

Just a crushing amp.

I'm not seeing a switch for the loop on these. So is the loop always on?

On my JJ the loop is aleays on, I'd assume it's the same with the Butterslax.

Sounds great, it is to me still a bit too compressed for my tastes though. I had a JJ and I loved that amp but the newer Friedmans actual amps sound a bit darker from an old kitchen sink mod I had a few years back. That's not saying that's a bad thing, as many prefer darker amps. Being a Marshall guy this sounds reminiscent of a mark V or sorta like an uber, tons of gain, wayyyy more than I'd ever use. I think that's why I'm in love with my Wizard metal as it's also way more gain than I need, but still has that Marshall character.
Well done clip though, very helpful that someone can attain so many cool amps allowing more people to check them out
