I received my modded Ceriatone 2204 from David on Monday. Thought I'd give a bit of a review.

Mods Performed - BE, C45, FAT Switch, FX Loop

I watched countless youtube videos and recordings of the BE100 and BE modded Marshalls before I pulled the trigger on getting David to perform a mod for me. The thing that sold me was how good all the recordings of these amps were, even through crappy iPhone recordings. They all sound solid which was great. Also, seeing Richie Sambora play one live in the flesh was enough for me.

The first thing that gets you about this mod is how clean it is. Or clean in comparison to the amps I have played before that is current Marshalls, DSL, JVM etc. When you play, it feels cleaner than the recordings suggest, however still maintains the sustain, compression and dynamics which you expect from a driven amp. Even at low volumes! Don't get me wrong, the amp gets heavy, but has a great amount of clarity which is great for picking up the nuances of your playing. No sloppiness allowed!! :)

Also, I now know what it means to 'clean up' by dropping the guitar volume. The amp stays true and cleans up exceptionally. Nice clean harmonics. You can really hear what kind of pickups you have installed!

The BE mod is where it's at for me. It works well with my LP and Fat Strat and was very happy with how it sounded with my single coil strat, escpecially with the FAT switch engaged. It really adds something to the tone. From my perspective the BE mod gets you into the VH territory and older Whitesnake etc. (vintage modded plexi tones). I would say if you want Lynch, RATT, Aldrich that you need some type of boost to the mids. I have heard many use an EQ pedal with the BE mod which makes sense. I'm sure there are OD pedals which will also do the job.

The FX Loop is awesome. I tried my carbon copy through it with short patch cables only so far and there is zero loss. In fact there may have even been a bit of a boost. Need to try with longer stage cables to be sure.

I'm still in two minds about the C45 mod. It adds bottom and scoops the mids. Need to play around with the EQ a bit more.

Clips to follow if I get time over the weekend. I highly recommend David's work.

I only have one problem, actually 2 problems. I now have to save for a Dirty Shirley!!!
Also, what do I do with my DSL? I plugged it in to compare. It sounded like a toy

I think it's great that you love your new amp! As far as the DSL, sell it and put the money towards the dirty Shirley. Thanks for sharing your review.
