Actually took possession of it earlier this week, but I finally got a Bottle Rocket.
I have been eyeing these up since Steve announced them. Had the Cherry Bomb a few years ago and let it go quicker than I should have. Wasn't an issue of not liking it...just stupid typical GAS.
Anyway the idea of the more aggressive and simple Bottle Rocket was attractive to me and after coming close a few other times I was able to grab SN 003 from its original owner. Everything is in perfect condition.
I haven't played it a ton, but after 2 sessions with it I am stoked to have this thing in the arsenal. Immediately recognizable to the feel and overall characteristics of the Cherry Bomb. I can't recall some of the nuances of the CB in great enough detail to fairly compare, but it seems like the BR has more gain availalbe. Maybe a little more low end and can get thicker. It's plenty pissed and has a cool growl. It has a really cool feel that I can't quite explain. Kinda just the perfect balance of attack and tightness, but still with a sag to it that feels great. Pretty dynamic to pick attack as well.
I'll be using it in a band context tonight. Should be easy to get it cutting through.
It really is a shame there aren't more of these out there. Maybe it's more than I realize, but it seems from activity on forums that a pretty select few have ever played one let alone own one. I know there are a million great choices these days...Henning is right there with the best and deserves more attention.
