I had one. It sucked. Can you get your money back?

Just kidding. I'm curious what YOU think since you've had a million amps.I thought the YJM overall is a great amp. I sold it because-- surprise surprise --I gravitate to my Soldano amps.

*did a great vintage Marshall thang: Deep Purple, Angus, early Clapton etc to 80s metal.
*On board reverb is quite nice as is the noise gate...truly wonderful.
*Boost adds high end which is nice but it's not a consistent tone from unboosted to boosted. A tone knob on the boost section would've been helpful.
*Sounds super tight and chunky...girth galore; less organic or open sounding than the Friedman BE. Not better or worse. Compared to the Soldano SLO it's like day vs night.

I haven't heard anything negative about the YJM amps...thye kick ass

Now you just need 25 more heads & cabs.

Also, after a while I like the controls on the back. Set it and forget it. I abide by the KISS mantra. I'm not too much of a tweaker. The antithesis of a Helix or AxeFx.

and it looks cool as f-k! Very understated fire-breathing monster.

Played one at a music go round about 5 years ago. I liked it better than a 73 pre PCB super lead I had at the time, just beautiful old school Marshall. But it was too expensive at the time. Put a boost in front, and as gainy as you'll need with the stock gain available. Cool amp and I think a nice change from what you have now...congrats!

Congrats. Great amp, one of the best imo. No over compression like all the other over priced bullshit out there.

I had a YJM100 for a few years and it is a great amp, but it is not a bedroom amp. You will need to be at band level for it to really sound great. It has a very nice open and organic tone. There is not a lot of gain at lower EPA (Electronic Power Attenuation) settings, but once you get the EPA up to 11:30 or 12:00 the amp sounds like a classic non-master Marshall. At that level you might be as loud as you will play in most loud rock clubs on stage.

Some guys are having problems with an IC chip going bad and this will effect the gate and boost features as well as the tone of the amp. I have read that hitting the front end with too much gain can make the chip go bad. It is an easy fix and Marshall has issued some kind of memo detailing the repair/design revision. I sold my YJM100 and ended up buying a Friedman Smallbox. I loved my YJM100, but I LOVE my Friedman. I am sure you will dig the Marshall. I have Malmsteen Strats, well now I am down to one, but that combo will just nail the whole Yngwie trip if you can play Yngwie. I would have kept the YJM100 if I could have afforded to get the Friedman without selling it at the time

Here is the YJM100 repair info.

REF No 017
COMPANY STATEMENT
PRODUCT AFFECTED: YJM100 - DFX PCB p/n PCBS-00039-00

Marshall Amplification PLC has produced a modification that should be applied to the
YJM100 DFX PCB. PCBS-00039-00, should IC5 fail. The symptoms of this failure can vary,
but usually, low or distorted volume, and the GATE threshold control acting as a gain control
will indicate IC5 failure. If the DFX PCB has no fault, this modification is not required.

The following steps will enable a service centre to repair and modify the DFX PCB locally.

ATTENTION:-OBSERVE PRECAUTIONS FOR HANDLING ELECTROSTATIC SENSITIVE DEVICES.

ITEMS REQUIRED.

1.
Replacement IC5 - RC4558 – SOIC-8 (Marshall Stock No. ICXX-00087)
2.
Replacement C4 - 100 nF 63V (Marshall Stock No. CAPR-10083)
3.
New Resistor - 10Kohm 0.6W 1% Metal Film (Marshall Stock No. RESA-10048)
4.
New Diode - 1N4148 (Marshall Stock No. DIOD-10018)
Note that the above components are provided as KITS- 00180
5. Small soldering iron tip and solder, suitable for working with a surface mount IC pins.
PROCEDURE.
1.
Ensure amplifier is switched OFF. Remove the DFX PCB.
2.
Carefully desolder the faulty IC5, clean any old solder from the pads, and solder the new IC in
place. Great care must be taken to avoid solder bridges between legs.
3.
Remove C4 and discard. Remove all solder from the holes in the PCB.
4.
Take the new C4 and Resistor and bend the legs as shown below in Fig 1.

5. Insert both components into the original C4 holes as shown in Figure 2. Note that the capacitor is
nearer the edge of the PCB.
Figure 2 – Orientation.

6.
Solder the resistor and capacitor together, and crop excess wire. Then solder the legs on the
PCB surface-mount side. See Figure 3.

7. Take the 1N4148 diode and bend and crop the legs as shown in Figure 4.

7.
Solder the diode as shown in Figure 5. Note that the Cathode (Band) is soldered to IC5 pin 8,
and the Anode is soldered to the leg of the new resistor at the PCB surface-mount side pad.
This pad is connected by track to R30 and IC5 pin 5.

8. The DFX assembly is now ready for refitting to the amplifier and testing.

I had one. Mixed feelings I guess.
Def not compressed at all, I just wanted a tighter overall tone and even with a boost something seemed missing. Overall though had lots of character, and even though I read lots of great stuff about the gate, I was not a fan. Prob be a good addition to your collection, I'd have kept if I didn't need to sell to buy another amp
