I am a HC refugee... I had a new amp day Friday, so I will show you the new amp...

I got a box the other day....

JCA100H-5.jpg

I wonder what was in it?

100 watts of pure Mike Soldano designed ASS KICK...

JCA100H-2.jpg

I think I am gonna need a bigger cab.... LOL

But seriously this thing sounds huge, and I am very happy with it..

The tube loop works really good as well..

Here is a vid I made of it from an audio clip I recorded and a picture (so you don't have to look at nothing)... It's not a great recording, but it gives you an idea of the gain it can get..

Here is a more professional demo...

Man this board loads fast... HC has gone the wrong direction..

Sounds good man, what are you using in the loop?
Haven't played one but they do have that SLO style vibe....the logos on these amps are the only thing that really bug me.

Well, I took the hockey puck off the front a couple of times, but ended up putting it back on.. The guys at Jet City are the coolest and most personable ever.. I guess they deserve to have the advertising on the front.. I wish they did have alternate logos that could be put on there.. I am just running a cheap delay pedal in the loop, and it works real good.. I will probably get a high end reverb pedal as well..

Congrats, I love my 20 watter

Do you have any buzziness at higher gain and volume levels? I notice that with mine, I am not sure if its just the amps, the nature of EL-84's, or just the fact taht I should retube it

I really need to go check one of these out. Sounds killer.

Nice. I really, really want to try out the 100H one of these days. It seems like the best deal in the amp world right now.

I think the sweet spot (for me anyways) is between 5 and 6 on the gain on the OD channel.. I would not call it buzzy past 6, but a little less focused because of the amount of gain at that point.. Some people like it that way though.. I have yet to hear it sound "bad" no matter where I set it.. It is a monstrous amp, and it has Soldano written all over it.. It could stand to be re-tubed, but I want to find out what Soldano puts stock in the Hotrod 100's.. The JCA100H is the exact same design and layout with different transformers and parts.. I think that retubing it as a Hotrod would make it sound more Hotrod-ish..

Very nice demo man. Can you tell me a bit about your experience with the crunch lab pick up, can it do articulate metal chugga chugga or is it more geared towards a smoother sound?

LOL, that second video is another guy.. FastRedPonyCar from HCAF.. I did the first video.. I will tell you that it will do the heavy ass kicking chugs your looking for.. His video did make me want to get a crunch lab too..

hey eternal, glad to see you're still digging the amp

Yes it is very digg-able.. Do you remember what tubes came in your Soldano Hotrod 50+??

Sounds very good man, hoping to go try one out later today and see how it stacks up to an SLO. I've been thinking about getting one and ditching my expensive stuff and staying with something simple like this but I don't know if I will like it. I didn't like the JCA20 so we will see how this fairs.
