Picked up this Jimmy Wigle plexi (early one) with the plexi panel back, effects loop, small box, 100 watt top with effects loop. lol... this thing sounds great... huge plexi gut punch when the master is not engaged, especially loud, as loud as my brothers 74 superlead and my wizards. No smearing of notes, nice tight bottom. Im using the master engaged and a boss sd-1, turn down for clean. Mercury magnetics iron like my wizard, all good stuff inside, german wima caps, xicon, those kidney bean looking lemco type caps, carbon comp resistors, and Sprague. Has some cool features like auto jumpering with a push pull, ground thingy on the power switch, and the standby is full power up and 50 watts down. The 10h choke is huge..overkill. this is not a high gain amp without a pedal.. its basically a 69 plexi with a master volume taking it into jmp master volume territory. Its great for guns, scorps, ratt, dokken etc type stuff as well as classic tones led zeppelin and acdc.

I have to admit, before I picked it up I saw a post on here from some guy who said he thought a straub cantus "smoked" this amp..so I was nervous as I am familiar with the cantus and thought it sounded like muddy shit. Thankfully, his review couldn't be further from the truth. A really nice sounding amp. This one is unmolested as well

The Cantus is not muddy when dialed in correctly...love that amp. It's very sensitive to preamp tube changes as well.

I had one of them a few years back. Used to belong to Lynch.
Here is a pic of it with him and Wigl. Killer amps for sure.

wow, that's pretty cool.. did you snap that pic? small box right? 100 watts? Looks like he is running the master halfway up and loudness one higher than loudness two.. that's pretty loud. I blew one of the winged C's that came in it when I got it today.. I didn't know what I was doing, pulling knobs etc, I was getting these loud loud blasts of volume and it took one of the tubes...lol Finally figured out the stock 69 mode is the presence pulled out, not in!

I didnt take the pic.....came from Jim's website. It was 100 watter. Loudest amp I have ever played.
Small box...yes. Went to a couple other members on here after me.

I saw that pic.. very cool. I saw one of demartini with one as well. I guess Wigle was the head amp designer at groove tubes.. had access to aspen pitmans purple plexi and a lot of others so was familiar with voltages, values, layout etc..

When I got the amp......it was modded by Mark Cameron. Still had the original Wigle tones...and had a 5 way switch in the back that was modded by Cameron. Amp was still the loudest 100 watter I have plugged into.

I see now where randall got the logo idea for the lynchbox!

I still have one of these. I love it, but it's not a great living room / tv amp for sure. The louder the better.

Are you using the master volume mod on yours? curious, is yours stock?
