Got this in yesterday. Played it last year and tried a BE100 and Smallbox in the meantime, but this ine stuck the most. Sounds fantastic through my Zilla cab with V30s and 65M Creambacks.

This amp just makes me want to play all the time because it's so much fun to play. Noticeably less gain than my Hagen but what a sound

There may be a Butterslax in my future :D

Have a nice weekend everyone!

nice! I love my JJ. How does it compare to your Hagan? If you had to pick only one which stays?

Difficult question after only one day. I do like that the JJ has more cut, eg when I play along to a song, I hear myself better with the JJ. But I also like the Hagen's incredible amounts of gain without losing definition. Tough call, luckily I don't have to decide ;)

I like the Hagen's clean channel better, but between the gain channels it's a draw.

yea i can imagine that is a tough one... i do wish the JJ had a bit more of a sparkle to the clean, could always get the SS mod on the clean though. I do really like the clean on my 2016 BE, not as dark as the JJ on the clean.

Love my JJ, there is not a bad sound in it. I REALLY love that white tolex though. Awesome looking!

As a gain junky, I really find that it has enough gain for whatever I want. I know there are higher gain amps out there, but the JJ just seems to have a ton of useable gain on tap.

This is where i'm at - I need a JJ100. Too much gain is a pain for me, it's all Madison Square Bedroom wank material. I want teeth in my amp's tone - aggression. Too much gain just leads to compression and zero definition. I'm loving the idea of a JJ and need into the club soon.

Peace - thanks for adding this thread. Helps me understand what this amp is offering on tap

Wow, that white JJ is gorgeous - congrats on the NAD. Are you still liking it a few weeks later?

That's definitely a "someday" amp for me.

Still loving it, inspires me to play. I like it with Master up to 12 o'clock and Channel volumes at around 8-9 o'clock for my "bedroom" volume. As I use fx in the loop, i also tries the recommended setting of channel volume at 12 o'clock and Master adjusted to taste. At the same bedroom volume, it didn't sound as good to me as the other setting just described.

I play along ti songs a lot and I can definitely hear myself better "in the mix", because it seems to cut better than my Diezel.

Clean is still not as good as the Diezel, but it's a good clean channel. To be honest, the gain channel is so awesome that I rarely play clean ;)

Yes, get one. You won't look back! I thought I saw one for sale on the Gear Page. (Not mine!)

I don't affiliate myself with TGP. Just an ethics thing, but thanks

My mancave is more than replete with goodness; it's only whimsical at this time my wont for this amp - but I'll get one before autumn

Congrats... Just got my jj today and it is the best Friedman amp I have played... This amp is totally amazing....cannot dial in a bad tone with this amp.... Might be one of the best amps I ever played....killer indeed

Ya....I have tried a few be100's and I like this one much better for my liking....

Beautiful!! The JJ is definitely next on my list to join the family with the Hagen. Are you playing the Hagen through the same zilla cab? Been thinking about experimenting with speakers - in particular the creambacks.

Hi, I had the Hagen first so it was also played through this cab. Actually with the Hagen, I was doubting whether my cab was very good, but with the JJ it sounds insanely good. I think the Hagen is more of an all V30s kinda amp.

My cab is wired in a way that I can choose either speaker pair, so I may try to connect the Hagen to the V30s and the JJ to the Creambacks and play through both at the same time :D

Btw, when I ordered my cab, only the 65M Creambacks were available, which are 3dB less efficient than the V30s. Afterwards, the 75 Creambacks were introduced, which also have 100 dB like the V30s. That may be an even better mix

The h creambacks pair up really well with v30's. They complement each other well. I like a little more edge to my tone though with certain amps.
For my diezel tones though I like the extra high end and bass of the g12t-75 with v30's. Sounds insanely good with my dmoll.
Can that JJ get very metal?
I have a butterslax on the way, first Friedman, looked hard at the JJ

The JJ does metal great. I believe Butterslax has more gain, so it may do it even better. But the JJ is a beast.

Right here.... The jj can get heavy and it does all the 80's tone perfect.... It is the closest I have gotten to the perfect Marshall tone....it is the closest I have ever gotten to the amp I was always looking for....I also have a stock jmp that I boost and the jj is that same tone but a bit more mature sounding.... Just a killer amp Dave made here...

Wow, the Butterslax seems like a total beast. The JJ can do metal just fine - before Kelliher got the Butterslax, he was using a JJ ;) The Butterslax is partly based on the JJ apparently, but it goes to 13 where the JJ goes to 11 :D

Until now all the Friedmans I have tried were fantastic (BE100, Smallbox 50 and JJ).

Looking forward to your NAD

Totally agree on the perfect Marshall tone. Although the JJ is modern enough to be used also for other stuff than 80s tone. Took me a while to figure out that the tone I was always looking for was actually more the Marshall variant. Especially the cut and the sound and feel when playing palm mutes. Afterwards, it is no wonder the Mesa Roadster did not do it for me (at least unboosted). It sounded great but it could obviously not get me the sound I did not even realise I was after
