I pre-ordered this after being told it wasn't supposed to show up until around Christmas or maybe early next year, but I got a surprise yesterday. It's my first time playing on any Mark series amp that wasn't just briefly running through somebody else's or one in a store. I've read up on the way the preamp works since then so I was much more prepared to try and dial this one in. It's very different from anything I've really used before but man, I really like it on first impression. The graphic EQ is super powerful, where little bumps here and there can make an important difference. For all the tweakability, its not "too much." Once you understand how it works it's not confounding or anything. I think the Recto tone stack is less intuitive.

It takes different guitars very, very...uh...differently, which might seem like a stupid thing to say, but it really is moreso than any of my other amps. It seems to really like higher output pickups and for the first time in many years it has me thinking about EMG's. Not that moderate/low output sounds bad, you just have to dial them in differently or bump up or pull the gain knob. For a high gain amp, it also really rewards you for playing dynamics - I love that you dig in and hit hard and it really give sit back to you.

awesome dude....probably gonna snag one used if I can find one....

Congrats! I had one at first release and loved it! The shred mode was fun with my 7 and 8 strings only but i mostly live on my 6 string ( tuned standard ) I could get it to sound close to my C++.

HNAD man! The JP2C is killer and super flexible. I'm sure you have read up on dialing these in. Don't be afraid to crank the treble and presence on these. I also like dropping that 240hz slider pretty low to get rid of the mud.

Fantastic amp.

So I guess this means Mesa is finally building new stock again? Hopefully that will take some of the silliness out of the used-Boogie market.

Goddamn I love the soy Jack meme

Hell ya man ! Hopefully getting a weird looking one soon lol . Fr I wanted one strange looking

Congrats! My settings on Ch2 look very much like yours although I have my 750 slider even lower. Such an extreme V on the EQ may be a bit much for some people but that's where I'm finding my favorite tones. Don't really need the Shred function when set like that, it's just overkill. Great cleans too.

Great amp! I've had a couple of them through the years.

Enjoy!

I don’t know, I saw Sweetwater got a small number in back in September or October and they were gone pretty fast. Seems like they’re trickling out.

Any suggestions for something to put in an empty 1x12 that the JP2C would like? EVM-12L? Celestion Redback? What would this thing play well with?

I’ve already got a Mesa oversized 4x12, a 2x12 with early g12t-75’s and a 1960 style 4x12 with Greenbacks.

I don't really like Marks with Greenbacks IMHO. I had a few of the 1x12 cabs with EVM-12Ls that sounded great with the Marks. I actually didn't like the Thiele cab by itself. I liked just a normal 1x12 with the EVM12L best.

Funny, i'm the total opposite, loved the mark series amps with greenbacks and vintage voiced speakers, although the EVM12L did sound quite good too.

Yeah I've got a somewhat oversized but otherwise just plain old 1x12 sitting empty. It's a really good sounding one I bought from Lopoline back when they existed. I used to keep a G12k100 in it and I pretty much just used it for recording leads. For some reason they just came out really nice and laid down over the top of rhythms recorded with other speakers, but I don't like the G12K for anything else really. It's just too flat and boring sounding. Sounds like the EVM is the thing to try for a new flavor.
