NAD! JVM Content... JVM Guys I have some questions for you!

It has the adjusment pot on the back of it 9ball.

Anyway, I spent about 5 hours with the amp last night (my neighbors probably hate me) but I got A TON of issues worked out. Didn't even put the new tubes in yet but got the tone under control and sounding awesome on Orange OD2 with my OD808 as a boost, the Ground Control now works great thanks to Ben at Voodoo Lab taking my call AFTER HOURS and spending a good 30 minutes on the phone with me getting the kinks worked out and re-initializing my pedal.

The lingering problem I seem to have, is in my loop I have my GE7, MXR CC, and ISP Pro Rack... since it all goes through the GCX (which is true bypass) I put the Pro Rack in slot 7 and 8 for the GCX since they are directly below the Pro Rack Send/Return and I could run short 6" jumpers for cleaner wiring. The Pro Rack is only ever used on the dirt channels anyway so it shouldnt matter. The GE7 and CC are in 5 and 6 on the GCX and only used on my clean side... Or they are supposed to be anyway! For some reason, the Pro Rack works great when engaged on the lead channel... But the GE7 and CC do not even give a hint of effect on the clean channel for some reason... I am absolutely baffled... All the wiring is right, switched around cables and they are good. Everything has power... It just gives no effect. I can physically hear the relay in the GCX fire (and pop through the speakers a little) so I know the loop is active on the clean side... If it was just one pedal, I may think maybe the pedal shit out on me... But to have two pedals less than a year old that have only ever seen rack use not working makes me suspicious...

Does anyone have ANY ideas? I am going to triple check the wiring one more time tonight but I am absolutely lost if it's not wiring...

Thanks!

Well if the wiring is actually correct...have you checked the loop levels? As well with the JVM you have to have the make sure the FX Loop switch on the front panel is on and assigned to each mode. Can't tell you how many times I've been tinkering and switched that thing off...then wondered why none of my effects in the loop weren't working.

It probably IS user error somewhere... I am still figuring this amp out... I am just getting frustrated with this one issue lol

JVMs are definitely noisy amps. I have owned three of them and they definitely have a good deal of hiss on the OD channels and a bit of hum.

Don't dial in the gain on OD1 or OD2 with your eyes, because in orange and red modes, you will *never* need it above 4 on the dial. On OD2 red, I don't even run the gain above 9 O'clock and it is saturated!

They're awesome amps in my opinion and get used often on records at my studio. The treble sweet spot is right under 4 on the dial. You get the brightness, but not any of the hash.

Good luck,

Greg

Well I got it all figured out last night... one of my cables on each pedal went bad... Not quite sure how since everything sits in the rack and is less than 8 months old cable wise... For the money I spent on them I am certainly not happy with them being broken... Time to call StompinGround.com and say WTF!

@lolzgreg - That's about where I ended up with the treble last night after some plating around. I actually ended up with my gain on OD2 (Orange) at Noon with my boost pedal for the heavier stuff and OD1 have it about at 9 o'clock for more alice in chains feel (no boost) and I have different variations available where I want them which is awesome due to the 3 modes per channel. I only have 1 active guitar so I am sure once I get the other 4 back from my tech and all set ready to go I will find a TON of different sounds.
