I totally get the NMV plexi thing, but yes, I prefer the ab763 circuit as well.

I was in a band where the other guitarist used a blackface bassman through an old Marshall 4x12. With just a few pedals he could do pretty much anything. I mean, we weren't playing metal or anything, but short of that. With some of the pedals we have now, I wouldn't put it past that.

So far I've been really impressed with how it takes gain pedals. Also how mid range heavy the 15s are in the cabinet. I think the two are related.
