Been loosely on the hunt for one of the Marshalls with diode clipping for a while - either a 2210 or 2205, or Jubilee. Saw one of these pop up last week for £500 which I figured was worth a punt. 1988 2554 with the original 8 Ω V30.

It’s hilariously small, just slightly bigger than my Fender Champ (albeit a lot heavier). The chassis is really crammed to make it all fit, the power tubes are 90° to normal, some filter can caps and a preamp tube are hidden behind one of the transformers. It’s every bit a 50W Jubilee aside from the choke which was sacrificed for space saving reasons.

Only used it through 4x12’s and load boxes so far, but it’s absolutely delivering the Jubilee thing. EQ and MV both have way more effect over their full taper than most Marshall’s. I can never seem to resist the oddball/experimental Marshall’s, this one seems a lot more fun to own than the reissues and still cheaper than what they go for used when they come up.

little clip. I always seem to like pushing plate driven EQ’s quite hard. Can push a lot more mids with this cab too, had them way lower with the 2001 mesa cab

nice pickup. Love my small box 2553. Got any pictures of the back, never seen a 2554 in person. Jubilee combos seem to be somewhat rare, at least by me.

Sure! Pretty cool how they’ve spun the power amp valves 90° to fit it all on the chassis

For that price you absolutely can't go wrong. I'd have pounced on that.
