Just got this today. 1984 veritcal input, Rola Celestion CL80. Only had time to unpack it, check it out, and play for 15 minutes. Rolled a few tubes through it as I had no idea what the power tubes were or how old it was. Have new tubes on the way and need to get it all biased up. Looks to be in really nice shape. Drake transformers. Not sure if the caps are original or what shape they are in. No bulging. The cap on the mid pot I believe is the only difference between a regular 2204.

These resistors tied together in series look a little strange. Stock?

No, they're not stock

Do those effect the amount of gain? This amp doesn't seem to have a whole lot, but comes on pretty strong at 7-8 on the master, which is a bit too loud. I've heard these amps on 1 on the master and have a nice amount of gain. Somethings afoot here...

Looks like it was converted to El34's
I thought you only changed the single resistor next to the trim pot when changing output tubes. What are those two for?

Congrats! Great amp.

Here's a gut shot of mine if it helps:

It has plenty of gain with the master down low. At 6, it's a snorting snarling out of control gain monster.

Thanks. I have yet to see another gut shot of these that have these two resistors tied together like mine.

Cool amp! I have a 4104. It has 2 G12m-70' speakers. I guess those resistors on your board got connected to put the bias sweep in range. I thought it was the resistor closest to the trim pot that controls that but I could be wrong.
