That's the best route. One of these days I'm gonna get a Metroamp. I'd love to find an already built one for cheap.

Keep an eye on the Metroamp forum Classified section, you often see them pop up on there for good prices :)

Good point!
I've tried Ebay and didn't see anything. I wouldn't feel bad trying anything and everything with one of those amps. I do feel bad mucking around with my '71. I have to keep everything that was original, original.... it gets limiting. But I have it kicking ass right now. I closed her up. Maybe I'll try a resonance mod at some point, that's easy and not invasive at all.

Good idea  Yeah the Metro's are great platforms for mods, you can punch as many holes into the chassis as you like, and not have to worry about screwing up a vintage amp!

Yup... I think some of them come with 4 pre tubes punched out.

Very cool!

Man I really want a vintage marshall but between nuts that think they have some collector's piece and hacked ones it is tough :(

I know what you mean Scotty, it can be tough finding a good deal on the old Marshalls!

I still think Metroamp's vintage Marshall clones are amazingly good and i would probably go that route instead of spending thousands on a vintage Marshall. Atleast with Metroamp, you get great customer service and everything. If anything goes wrong, theyre only a phonecall away. If you score an old Marshall and it dies.. you are screwed.

That's the best route. One of these days I'm gonna get a Metroamp. I'd love to find an already built one for cheap.
Thats what I did as a mod project and it turned out fantastic. I'm gonna do it again soon I hope   :D

You can get the dual-output tranny on either one if I'm not mistaken

Yeah you may be right. It's just a custom transformer spec they have. Should be the same on both amps.

 Great find Dan. That is definately one of the prime amps to build your mods in. So I guess this will be the 1st cali-super bass 100 watter? With extra toggles for saturation, fat and non-fat add ins?    Merry Christmas and hopefully you and Angus and Darren and others can get together over the holiday for some jamming and tossing a few down. ;)

There's a fine line... LOL! :D
I wouldn't mod anything in a stock unmolested '68 Plexi, but then again, I'd probably not buy one because in their original form, they're downright unseable for me... LOL! :D

Fuck it. I messed around with my 67 plexi. It's mine ;)
You added the Rich Mod right? DId you do anything else to it?

Hey Hollywood! Merry Christmas to you too! :)

Yeah man these JMP's are great amps! Actually, i already bought a 1980 100w JMP Superbass earlier this year and Cali modded it. Its fully loaded with all the features, it's now my main amp!
I sold the other Cali Mod JCM800 to Ian (druckpig here on R-T), he tried the amp in person, and had to have it :D

This JMP isn't going to be a Cali Mod, but i'm gonna turn it into a super high-gainer for sure

Sorry Dan ;) I'm just speaking up for the stock Marshall posse that seems to have been all but eradicated from Rig Talk. So for fun, go post this thread at the Plexi Palace forum.

Just kidding brother. It's your amp.

F'em. I have a nice 1972 SL that has 2 holes drilled, but 98% of the red dye on the joints that I have been planning on modding.

Dan, post some before and after pics of the board.

Haha that would get em all fired up for sure :D

Yeah man, i'm not bothered by modding old amps either.. I mean if it was an all original, clean Plexi or metal panel then yeah i'd probably leave it alone for £££ reasons and sell it off. But if the amp isn't original and/or has a couple holes drilled then i'm cool with modding it
