I've been using Boogies on and off for the better part of the last 20 years, but hadn't had one in a few years. A buddy of mine was selling his Mark V...and I just couldn't say no.

Really enjoying it so far. The clean channel is awesome, the Mark I mode on channel 2 is quickly becoming a favorite, and the Mark IV mode on channel 3 has everything that I liked about my old Mark IV...but it's a little throatier and bolder. The variac mode is killer as well.

I've been playing more rock than metal the past few years, but since picking this up yesterday it's been nothing but old-school Metallica riffs echoing through the house.

Congrats...I still have mine after 4 years or so. Still dig it every time I fire it up. Try maxing the clean gain on tight and get the channel volume up to 3 O’Clock. Careful with low eq and you’ll get an awesome, old school hard rock tone. Remember adding treble will add a little gain too. Getting the master volume up really transforms this amp too. Running 6L’s? I never looked back after putting in 34’s.

Nice! I'll give it a whirl!

Yep, 6L6's in it for now. I've got EL34's in the Splawn, but may try them in the Boogie at some point too.
