NAD: Mesa Mark VII - the best?

How are these playing out live in general? I thought one knock on them was that they don't cut through the mix enough.
Fast Red Pony Car said he had no probs live (not sure if he is in a one or two guitar band) and I guess it could be like some other amps where you just have to eq it properly for that situation.

is say, with the double EQ it's user error, if you are not able to cut through...
but you have to compromise the channels since it's only one graphical EQ for all 3.
That's better on the JPC2 and the mark 5

The Mark VII is excellent.

If you want another EQ, put another EQ in the loop and swap it in and out as needed. If you want a Shred mode, just add a clean boost in front with some of the lows dipped out, that's all the Shred mode is.

I also wish the IIC+ and IV modes were independent and could be footswitched between, though. But as a studio amp where you have time to dial whatever tone as needed, it's excellent.

It's probably a top 5 "every tone you'd ever need in one box" amp as long as you have time to sit there and dial each tone as you need it.

The mark VII is really great. Agree with Raf that it would be better if IIC+ and IV were switchable. It is almost the ultimate, I would have loved to see iib and iic+ on channel 2 and IV and VII mode (a whole different modern version not the one in the amp) on channel 3. Tone wise its awesome though, one of the best marks ever made IMO and I have owned a lot of them

I really dug the VII - mostly because of Mark IV mode. Anybody ever put the VII next to a Mark IV?
I had both at the same time (Mark ivb long head) and preferred the vii, easier to dial in and the tone was also easier to fit in the mix. The older marks it’s always a small tweak away from the being perfect, but then that goes on forever 😂

I have them both. They are both great amps. The VII has a more modern feel compared to the actual IV but you can get them both to sound pretty close. Much closer than Youtube videos would lead you to believe.

I’ve heard similar reviews of folks preferring the VII over those other Marks - been wanting to try the Mk7 for a while.

Everyone seems to love the VII, so one of those or the IIC+ reissue shall be my next amp, I think?? (When I can afford it).

Go for the VII. The IIC+ RI is a one trick pony (but it's a great trick)

I'm weighing out the cons and pros of both and IDK... I might be content just having that one excellent tone the iic+ does, versus the bunch of good tones the VII has. It's also debatable whether the iic+ is a one trick pony too, it does have a good clean as well as the awesome lead channel, just no crunch tones really, nothing that is remotely Marshally either. Hard decision.

I had the V last year
Sold it

Wanted to get the 4

Along the way i decided to get the V but there was non i could find

Ended up selling my amps and getting the 7!

Before delivery a in near mint V popped up so i thought F-it

The V is my living room amp and the 7 is in “my” room.

Cant go wrong with either, both are different tone wise but theyre so good

Having the 7 for a while now and have gotten the hang of it i do prefer it more tone wise but still i say you cant go wrong

For clean the V has the upper hand
For mark 4 and 2c+ the 7
Crunch….i dont use
But then again, it depends on the guitar and how i feel that day🤣

If money doesnt matter get the 7
If it does get the V

Like stated before, the eq and solo where my reason to get the V
The switching options also are a big extra

So having both i know i have a very nice mark library at my disposal

At the moment im wanting a more marshall sound, so ill be swapping the amps and use the V crunch and boost it to a hotrodded jcm800 sound.

The V is a combo, im planning on finding a head shell so i can swap it more ofton as i have to bring it up 3 stairs😓

Drew is playing with 2 guitars.

I played mine on stage and never had issues cutting. Not sure I've seen anyone complain about this, but for sure the amp can be set so many ways, I could see it happening.
