First big thank you to Jim Seavall @ Scumback Speakers for helping get this amp! Jim you are the man!! Thanks!!

Rectifier fans will dig this... about a week ago I found one of the grails of the Rectifier line... I give you the 1992 Rev C Dual Rectifier in Chrome and Black, sub #250 serial. It's the one on top. It's sitting on a Rev F Triple. The Rev C is pretty rare as it was only made for 3-4 months in early 1992, when they switched the circuit to Rev D. Revs A/B for the record were prototypes not released to the public, nor artists. The main difference is the tightness, presence, and brighter all around tone. The Rev C is pretty different from what we think of as the classic "Recto Sound"... tighter, brighter, way more range on the presence pot... and the volume pot has a decent sweep... not on/off... low volume/ear bleed like the Triple Rev G it's sitting for example. And you can actually turn up the bass pot without getting the mushy mud city tone. It more like a MK3 + Modern Rectifier hybrid amp. Really cool, different sound.

And since I had some others around (Triple Rev G and a Triple MultiWatt), I made a few comparison clips of them all. The Maxon OD9 is my favorite Recto boost, even more than the OD808, so that's what I used. OD9 set to Drive 9:00, Level 3:00, Tone 1:00. Clips are:

ESP Custom Shop Snakebyte with stock EMG Het Set-> straight in to amp or boosted with Maxon OD9 (as noted below)-> amp-> Diezel 4X12 frontloaded V30s-> miced off axis with a Shure SM57-> UA Apollo MKII-> Logic Pro X. Nothing else added or subtracted. No editing or equalizing in Logic. Clips are dry.

That amp was stolen from me. Send it back and I’ll call it even. Haha

Congrats on a killer amp.

Congrats! Cool amp. I like the Rev F Triple best...although all were fairly close.

Thanks for posting!

Love my Rev. C. I got it brandy new! Also had #180 something in chrome but this one sounds quite a bit better.
Happy NAD!!

I have always lusted for one of those. Awesome amp man.

Is this the version with Soldano SLO circuit?

The Rev C is the first available version of the rectifier, supposedly a copie of the SLO circuit. The orange channel set to modern should give you the closest result for that sound.

You too eh? I’ll add your name to the waiting list.

Supposedly. Never compared schematics, but they sure don’t sound alike to me. For sure.

After owning 3 SLOs, I much prefer the Mesa Rectifier tone... regardless of version (except the first 3 channel models... meh).

Cool. Post some pics if you can.

These do sound different. I used to have a Rev C a long time ago... not even sure why I sold it. But there is something different to them. Just not net hype and forum folklore. Pretty evil sounding for a 26 year old amp.

Good to know! Congrats man!

You know...next to the "holy grail" Rectos I think the Multi-Watt holds its own. I thought it sounded a bit more clear. I may have liked it best. There was a growl in the Rev F that sounded really good too. Congratulations on the new amp!

Thanks.

None of them sucked for sure. The Rev F and MW were right there. No bad apples here.

I have a Rev G Triple, and with a mid flavored boost in front I think it's VERY close to my last SLO. Scary close. But I also think a VHT D60 is very close as well.

Congrats! I think it's so cool that Jim helped you score that.

Love it bro! Recto madness! :rawk:

Im really liking my new MW, great amp!

I had a bunch of 2 channel rectos C, D, F & G and i still own the chrome chassis Rev D. A couple of years ago i tried a 3 channel and didn't like it at all, i found it too fizzy and flubby even boosted.

Recently i rent a Dual Multi-Watt and gave it a spin, i was impressed how good it was.
