Been wanting to scratch the Recto itch as I’ve had a Stiletto and MK V for a while. Never was a big fan of the recto recorded but always think they are a hoot in the room. Stumbled across this T-Verb in a GC and it was in good shape, sounded great and I liked the versatility in the clean and blues setting...and they even dealed on the price. 6 months, no interest later.....

Orange...no boost

Red.....no boost

Used my Powerbrake so I could get the Master up above 12 O’Clock. Made a definite difference.

Tremoverb's are the tightest of the series IMO. They sound great. Had to sell mine for basically nothing during college to help pay bills. Sounds great! HNAD!!!

PS I'll give you a bit of a tip on these - the gain sounds better with the built in reverb channel engaged, but the reverb set to basically off or near off. Give it a try when you get the chance

I don’t have a foot switch for it but the reverb works, so must be on. I was pleasantly surprised by the clean and blues setting. I remember from the 90’s the clean being brittle when gained out and the blues setting being boxy but the clean on this has a nice breakup when gained up and the blues setting sounds more open than I remember, especially with some volume. Curious what 34’s will sound like in it.

Sounds great! Are you running it through the EVH cab with stock speakers?

I’m running through both of the 412’s. The Marshall has a mixture of speakers in it. The EVH has the stock speakers.

Awesome....I love mine.
The clean and blues mode are pretty versatile. There is some great crunch and point of breakup sounds in both these modes.

Sounds great and with a boost will rip your face off! \m/

I bought a Tverb new back in 1996 or so. Used it for a year with 6L6's and then dropped 34's in. Never looked back.

Sounds freaking awesome dude!
I'm surprised by the tightness, also it really sings when playing lead!
I also have a Trem-o-verb, can't seem to get it tight without a Maxon OD808 in front of it :/
Do you mind sharing your settings or any tips for the orange and red mode?
The orange mode sounds really full and just great.
Didn't know the Super Distortion would sound so tight! And yet so great for melody playing.
Thanks!

Good score... I had one with the power cord attached in the early 90's, also from GC used.

I don't think this guy was played a lot, at least by the previous owner. All Mesa tubes, pre's too and there was a few cobwebs in the back...lol
On both the red and orange I just had EQ's floating around 12 O'Clock. Maybe Bass at noon and treble and mids at 1:30/2. Gain on the Orange was at 1-1:30. Presence was closer to 3. I think getting the Master up helps but it sounded killer in the store where I didn't crank it at all. Diode and bold.
I'm also playing through mostly greenback type speakers with a random fane, Creamback 75 and G12H30 in the Marshall cab.
The super distortion is an older single braid one which I find night and day different from modern day, 4 conductor versions. New SD's sound peaked in the mids to me.

Ultimately I may have just lucked out with the pre's and they're doing all the right things with this circuit. I don't remember getting straight in tones with a Gibson like this back in the 90's.

Thanks, not to far off from my settings. Presence at 3 o'clock sounds pretty intense though, must be only possible because of the high master setting and maybe the powerbrake stealing some highs. Must be the playing then ;)
Congrats on the amp!

My '94 Trem-o-verb was the first Mesa Boogie I ever bought and is still my favorite. Such a beast of a amp, sounds so killer and is so versatile.

With a boost it's a monster and the best sounding of all the Rectifiers to my ears. They are really under rated on the used market IMO.

I personally prefer EL34's in my T-verb. I used 6L6's live for years but once I tried some good EL34's I have never went back to the 6L6's, yet. :)

I did 6L6 a few years. Then did EL34 from 1995 till 2011. Been using 6L6 most of the time since then. I like both.... But like the big bass and cleans of the 6L6.

Yeah, I’ll stick with 6L’s for a while at least. I have 34’s in my MK V but so far I’m treating this Tremoverb like a big gnarly Fender. Was jammin’ on the cleans with the reverb up and a short echo and it was just old school, big clean goodness. Plus, apart from the Orange, all my amps have 34’s. Got to shake up the tonal pallete a bit.

They sound best with 6L6s IMO. Are you playing with either channel cloned in your videos or just orange vintage/red modern?

Not cloned, traditional set up.

Sounds Great! Found a Triple that's a keeper for sure...the TVerb is such a great deal used, really all Rev Gs are. Great clarity at volume. V30s sound great with these. Gonna try my cab with 65s tomorrow!
