I am the proud owner of a Monomyth “Black Sun” modded 1987x Marshall. To put it simply, this amp is a fucking beast. One of the best Marshall mods I’ve had. I dig really aggressive tones, and this is the most pissed off mod I’ve had. It’s got a wicked, Cameron like snarl to the mids, and low end for days. Mine has dual gains, so the gain structure can be set from Fortin tight to Bogner chewy. Very versatile. The amps got a great feel that varies with the thickness of your gain settings, but it always feels great. Quick response with the right amount of bounce. It’s extremely punchy and percussive. The noise floor is very low and a noise gate is not necessary, at least not at the gain level that I live at. The switches/options take you from stock Marshall to vicious, snarling Hellhound, and everything in between. It’s all in there. Mine’s got the stock loop which works great. In my opinion, Shea’s clips are among the best out there, and I assure you, that’s what the amps actually sounds like. No fuckery whatsoever. I also played LPfreak’s Monomyth SLP, and it was also a killer. Sealed the deal that I was getting one.
Shea was great to deal with too. If you’re considering modding or buying from Monomyth, don’t hesitate to do so. He’s the real deal. Sorry for not posting clips, but my phone records like shit. Here’s his clip...

I sent him my 2204 2 weeks ago Thursday and got it back 2 weeks to the day I sent it. Great communication plus he’s super easy to deal with, plus he’s a gear head like the rest of us! Beyond Black put it perfectly; it’s a snarling beast that WANTS to be as heavy as possible..but it can be tamed a bit for some 70s-80s stuff easily. It honestly is the first amp I’ve played that feels like it’s ready to have a damn meltdown, or blow up lol...like it’s on the edge. The Wizard I had gave me some of that but not like this. Mine has a push/pull on the gain, a push/pull on the depth and the blood switch that takes the gain back a bit. Mine also has the Black Sun mod. This amp is right up there with the best ones I’ve owned, and is far different to me than any of my favorites which have always been the Cameron’s. Whatever Shea is doing is a totally different thing than any of the 25 or so modded Marshall’s I’ve owned. Yes the clips absolutely are spot on to the tone of my amp. I just had to drop the mids to 2 and there it was. If any of you want an aggressive modded Marshall look no further. Put it this way...I haven’t played my C+ Coliseum since last Thursday lol.

Word. One thing I forgot to mention, my amp is a little on the bright side. I’m digging it much more through my G12-65 loaded Marshall than my Greenback loaded Splawn. And yes, this mod definitely has it’s own thing going on, and it’s a great thing.

I can’t say enough about mine either and I’ve had all the top modders amps....Cameron, Friedman, Fortin, Bray, Martin Kidd, BFG, the list goes on....

I run mine with the GB/V30 mix and it’s perfect to my ears. And yes, this dude is definitely legit.

I'm also using G12 65s, love it. Haven't yet tried it through my 1974 Marshall slant w/original cream back G12Ms. I never drop my mids this low, but that's how I got the tone in the demos.....still has nice rich mids Imo.

I miss mine soo much. Hopefully I'm going to replace it soon. It really has ruined me for any other hotrodded Marshall.

Did you get the Erupto mod? Those sound amazing in his clips.

Yes, it definitely loves the 65’s. I’ve got a Scumback loaded 4x12 downstairs that always delivers I’ve got to try it with. Also want to hear V30’s as used in his clips. When set scooped like in his demo, you could knock down a brick wall with palm mutes. It’s brutal.

Thanks guys, I’m glad to hear you guys are happy with your amps and appreciate the reviews. This black sun mod can have 1 or 2 gain pots and sounds great with the stock marshall fx loop on the reissues, it’s my personal favorite, if you’re interested shoot me an email
