You kinda answered my questions.

I have an Ibanez Jem 7V WH, which is a super strat, I guess.

I have a PRS Singlecut, which is an LP copy, I guess.

Anyway, I want a traditional pick up layout for a strat and tele, which I am also interested in.

I want the traditional strat and tele tones, but I want them in a better package...if that is possible.

I don't like a 7.5 or 9.0 neck radius.

I am more of a 14 to 17 inch radius guy.

But I see the Andersons are 14 inch, I think.

Additionally, I like Jumbo frets.

So that has got me interested.

Anyway, thanks.

No sweat man. I've owned a lot of strat and teles of different makes. The Andersons kill all I've ever had. I did have a Suhr for a while as well. It was very nice, but felt stiff and I just didn't bond with it... though I wanted to, because I could've gotten it very cheap. I sold it here I believe. There are two benefits for me in owning the Andys... 1) it's been a guitar GAS killer... I honestly haven't looked much for guitars since the sunburst one showed last year. There was nowhere else to go in a strat! The only thing I could do was get another Andy! And 2) when I'm playing and having an off day... I no longer question if the guitar is somehow lacking. They really are that flawless. When something's off... It's GOT to be me! That's a tremendous peace of mind for me. Frees me up to just play and stop wondering if there's something going on with my guitars.

Congrats!

Love the Anderson guitars, I got a hollow classic earlier this year.

How is the bogner harlow? I was considering one but afraid it might add a bunch of noise to my signal.

The Harlow is interesting. I'm not sure how to describe it exactly. When I dime the gain on the Friedman's clean channel (to make a great Marshall plexi crunch)... and then add the Harlow... it makes the tone so thick, rich, 3D, and responsive. I have several other great ODs and compared the Harlow to them and the Harlow's got something they don't. It's kind of "alive" like a great tube amp. So running it into the Friedman is like a great amp squared!  My previous favorite OD pedal to use light-up the front end of an amp delivering crunch was the Fulltone OCD. My favorite tones with my old Marshall 2203X and Bogner Shiva were achieved using an OCD. I've been thinking about picking another one up (sold the one I had earlier), but now that the Harlow is here... I don't see that happening. The OCD was awesome for that, but from my memory of it, it wouldn't have near the big, thick girth of the Harlow. It had the liveliness from what I remember, but just not as big sounding. More of a high-mid roar, versus the full-mid grunt of the Harlow.

Also, the Harlow tightens that tone up and makes chugged low notes really thump hard, but stay tight. It's saggy like early EVH tones... and yet tight if that makes any sense. it's not flubby at all for making such a big, 3D tone.

Cool, my amp is a Bogner Shiva. I generally run either the Anderson, Parker Fly, or a Gibson LP Classic through mine. I'll keep my eye out for a used Harlow.

Nice! I'll bet the Harlow will sound great with the Shiva. OCD sure did!

Great setup of amps and guitars! Many congrats! Hope you get some relief for your back at some point soon. Nothing worse than that constant pain.

Thanks man. I call my pain my "shadow". I sometimes forget it's there... but it's always there just the same. You mostly just learn to live with it, but some days it wears you down. I'm usually toast by Friday, after long days at my desk.

Dang...

Spent three hours in the man cave this afternoon pushing the Friedman rig a little harder than I had thus far. First, I tuned my Anderson sunburst Drop Top Classic down to Eb, because I wanted to really explore tones of a bunch of my favorite artists that tune to Eb. From Van Halen, Armored Saint, WASP, and Brittney Fox... to Kamelot, AIC, Injected, Primal Fear, Iced Earth, and Puddle of Mud.

So I started by playing some AIC for a while on the Splawn Quick Rod halfstack. It was its usual, chewey, rich inspirational tone. Enjoyed it as always. Then I plugged into the Friedman rig. I expected to be less than overwhelmed with the thump of the 2x12 after spending a while getting in-synch with the Splawn rig. The Splawn slant 4x12 is the thumpiest slant cab I've ever heard. I generally only buy straight 4x12s, because I like the increased girth and thump of straight cabs. But the Splawn cab is plenty big sounding.

Anyways... back to the Friedman rig. I flipped back and forth between the Friedman and Splawn rigs. After several songs, I powered the Splawn off. The Friedman 2x12 kept up with the Splawn just fine. Sure, the 4x12 is bigger sounding, but not by much at all. The Friedman rig really lives in the mids, including low-mids. So it has plenty of thump. The smooth, rich, organic, articulate tone of the Small Box is just on a slightly higher level. I edged-up the master volume over time and eventually was running it at about 9:00, with the gain varying between 2:00 an 3:00. Didn't matter whether I was playing early Van Halen, or Steel Dragon's "We All Die Young", the Friedman rig just nailed the tones and sounded big, but tight and thumpy. After about three hours playing pretty loud (wearing rubber ear plugs), my ears were finally fatigued enough that I elected to quit. That's about as long as I've ever been able to last playing loud in the man cave. The Friedman rig is that smooth sounding.

I've been going through gear and playing for thirty-one and a half years. I've had some seriously killer boutique holy-grail gear this past decade, but today there was NO doubt in my mind that this is the best tone I've ever had. It was so good and inspirational, that at one point I almost felt like I could just take my hands off of the guitar and it would keep playing itself! That's a testament to how effortlessly the Anderson plays, as well as how responsive the Small Box is. I was getting goosebumps at times. I'll bet this rig records killer tone! I'll have to set-up the mics here at some point and lay down some tracks and see what I can get down.

It was an amazing afternoon and as I found myself nailing the classic Van Halen brown sound playing songs like "Unchained", "Meanstreets", "Hear About It Later", "Somebody Get Me a Doctor", "Feel Your Love Tonight", and "Ain't Talkin Bout Love"... I wanted to friggin start a Van Halen tribute band just so people could hear the perfection that is this beast. I feel like I could've taken over the world if I'd have had this rig as a young player in the 80s...

LOVE this amp (and the Anderson guitars)! I'm sure I'll eventually pick up a BE100 and maybe bestow the Splawn rig on my son. I still think very highly of the Splawn rig, but there's no question about the Friedman being my desert island rig. If you haven't treated yourself to some quality time with a Friedman amp yet... I HIGHLY recommend it!

Congats on the new gear! It sounds like you've been inspired by your gear! I said this more than once but, Dave is the Devil, I have never been more addicted to an amp. I have a BE100 with VH switch and JBE mod. I've been playing for 37 yrs and had a bunch of junk, but I think I'm happy with what I have too.

I read what you said about your back and pain, if you havn't tried it yet, yoga is great for back pain. Mine would put me down for days, and my daughter bought me a book, and showed me a few stretches which seemed to help. My hamstrings, piriformis, lower back muscles, pelvis were tight as banjo strings. I then found Dr. Eric Goodman and foundation training on youtube. I figured why not give it a try.. IT WORKS! Also pnf stretching.. try that also. I suffered and all they wanted to do is give me pills, which I refused. They wanted to do surgery on me and I refused. That was 6 years ago. I'm still not 100%, but waaaaay better than I was. Here is a start, and he has tons of vids on youtube. Once you have scar tissue from surgery, it's harder to get the muscles and connective tissue to stretch.
