Oh yeah.....!
I don't usually post NAD/NGD threads but man did this parts-caster turn out so well. The goal of this guitar was 100% hot-rod strat. I was originally going to make it a HSH configuration but since I don't actually have any SSS guitars I changed it up at the last minute... sure glad I did.
A word about the finish: Its a bright gun-metal holoflake applied by the infamous Marty Bell, and it is really amazing. Really 3-D..... the sparkles just pop right out and smash your eye-balls..... The neck and body were assembled and a complete setup on the guitar was done by Calgary's finest luthier. Even he was really struck by the absolute quality of the finish.
Plays and sounds awesome! *NOW* I understand why peeps like a strat into an overdriven Marshall
Specs:
- USACG 3AAA birds-eye neck and swamp-ash body. Body wood was hand-picked from the *AWESOME* pile at USACG
- Gotoh floyd
- Klein S-8 pickups - the David Gilmour set
- Bright gunmetal holoflake by Marty B.

The amp is new to me as well... I'm a metal guy through and through but I've been wanting to explore some tele/strat tones into a deluxe type amp and so I ended up with a Tone King Metropolis. This amp is extraordinarily well-made, and the cleans in it are simply stellar. There is a lead channel as well that can go from tweed to a marshall lead tone. With the power-scaling in full force the leads get really fat and greasy at TV volumes from the cooking 6V6s.
The reverb wasn't working when the amp arrived. I emailed Mark Bartel at Tone King and we diagnosed the issue after one exchange. One solder application later the reverb was up and running. Really excellent customer service from Mark... and a super nice guy to boot. These are the sort of things that really endear me to a brand.
Pics... the gratuitous tele shot free of charge....
Yeah.. like so many others on this board I never saw myself owning a tele...
