Oh yeah.....!

I don't usually post NAD/NGD threads but man did this parts-caster turn out so well. The goal of this guitar was 100% hot-rod strat. I was originally going to make it a HSH configuration but since I don't actually have any SSS guitars I changed it up at the last minute... sure glad I did.

A word about the finish: Its a bright gun-metal holoflake applied by the infamous Marty Bell, and it is really amazing. Really 3-D..... the sparkles just pop right out and smash your eye-balls..... The neck and body were assembled and a complete setup on the guitar was done by Calgary's finest luthier. Even he was really struck by the absolute quality of the finish.

Plays and sounds awesome! *NOW* I understand why peeps like a strat into an overdriven Marshall

Specs:
- USACG 3AAA birds-eye neck and swamp-ash body. Body wood was hand-picked from the *AWESOME* pile at USACG
- Gotoh floyd
- Klein S-8 pickups - the David Gilmour set
- Bright gunmetal holoflake by Marty B.

The amp is new to me as well... I'm a metal guy through and through but I've been wanting to explore some tele/strat tones into a deluxe type amp and so I ended up with a Tone King Metropolis. This amp is extraordinarily well-made, and the cleans in it are simply stellar. There is a lead channel as well that can go from tweed to a marshall lead tone. With the power-scaling in full force the leads get really fat and greasy at TV volumes from the cooking 6V6s.

The reverb wasn't working when the amp arrived. I emailed Mark Bartel at Tone King and we diagnosed the issue after one exchange. One solder application later the reverb was up and running. Really excellent customer service from Mark... and a super nice guy to boot. These are the sort of things that really endear me to a brand.

Pics... the gratuitous tele shot free of charge....  Yeah.. like so many others on this board I never saw myself owning a tele...

wow...now THAT is sparkle!!!! really nice !!!!! REALLY nice!!!!!!!

That's AWESOME. It looks SO close to a blue sparkle Strat build I had planned to do in 2012, but then I found a dead mint 2004 American Standard Strat in chrome blue locally for a good price so ended up picking it up and modding it. I'll post up a pic for you later today. Anyways, you're making me want to do that build again!

Anyways, congrats. Very nice!

Nice job - Marty has always done great work for me - his sparkles are just crazy good! Congrats!

Wow. I really dig that guitar. I've got a G&L custom shop on layaway that has the holoflake. I can't wait to get it. Congrats brother!

Strat with a Floyd you cant go wrong! Love and wish to have something similar someday!

Thanks Steve... Marty's finishes are off the hook. It's thanks to RT that I found out about Mr. Bell in the first place.

Cool man, that will be a great guitar. Post pics when you get it, eh? Holoflake really makes a finish "POP", you won't be disappointed I'm sure.

Looks awesome!

Thanks!

I've been logging some hours on these Klein pickups, and I am really impressed. Lots of clarity and no mud or ice-pick at all... The S-8 set fits me perfectly because the bridge is pretty hot at 12K which gets me what I want out of it, but it cleans up wonderfully when rolling off the volume. The middle and neck pickups are not over-wound and have beautiful bell-like tones. Awesome 80's metal tones out of this set. Iced Earth... well not so much

Great pickups!

I love them both! Congrats! Beautiful daughter too. It'll suck to be you when boys start coming around. Lol

Dude, that "sparkle" is insane!!

Awesome pics - thanks for posting... I'm not into graphic guitars or sparkle or the like, but this one above does is SO well that I can't help but like it.

Beautiful guitar!
I had a Kramer nightswan that was similar in the Blue sparkle....but it was a darker blue.
Nice axe you got for sure!!

Beautiful guitar and thanks for the comments on the pickups. I am putting my strat back together and on a pickup quest.
