Gut shots......

Did you ask first?

Chris

Is there something bad about doing it? Mr. Peters should be proud of his work. No reason to make gut shots taboo. I opened it up to measure the plate voltage so I could bias. Figured a few photos wouldn't do much harm. Not like anybody can discern the special circuit sauce from a photo.

It's just that i asked before and got the answer that "I'd prefer not", me personally I like gut shots but sometimes builders prefer not to have them posted.

That's all. But yeah, James work is flawless.

I asked a builder if I could post pics of the guts of his amp and got the answer "I'd prefer not".

I'd be curious to compare my FSM with the GNL, I liked my Gryphon so much, but wanted I beat more aggression so James had modded it a little, that amp growled big time. So does the FSM with 6550's!!!!!!

Yeah, I'd love to compare too. I really couldn't decide between the FSM and GNL. James basically made the decision for me and built the GNL.  I wonder how different the FSM is from the Hydra though. The GNL and Gryphon I feel are unique due to the low-mid voicing and growl. Whereas the FSM is probably more upper mids and probably smoother/more saturation. Just a guess though.

You should make a vid clip too. Just something basic with an iPhone or something. Might be able to compare if we put the amp to the same EQ settings through the same speakers.

I'll try and get something done but I'm not setup with my Peters right now, it's at my other drummers place.

I did a little vid like 5 years ago of my Gryphon, I had just earned that song so the little timing quirks have been adjusted to this day!!!!!! LOL

Careful, or BB will steal the secret sauce and come out with his next metal amp - Rape By Twinkie. Jk, in all seriousness that build and design look really clean. I'd love to play one of these someday.

I have the FSM and Hydra on a Triple. Comparing them, they are definitely family members. The Hydra has more "hair" and a bit more girth to it. Hydra is also quicker to go into gain. It can get more saturated, although FSM can get close at its higher gain settings. FSM does round off a bit nicely at low gain and low guitar volume settings. They are both awesome, and to me are definitely members of the same family.

It would be great to hear GNL vs either channel. If it's based on Gryphon I assume it's different territory from either channel.

Yeah, the GNL and my Hydra are night and day different. GNL is definitely more in the "vintage" spectrum. Not terms of gain or aggression or anything. But in terms of voicing. I haven't spent a lot of time with it just yet. But it strikes me as more of a wide, low-mid grunt type of thing.

The Hydra snarls. The GNL growls.

I will try to get a clip up soooooon.
