Hey guys, I finally got my PRS MT15! Pretty cool little amp. Loud as fuck, sounds good. Kind of wish the volume tapered better for low volume jamming like my Butterslax but oh well. I threw some generic metal riffs at it last night, I like it. How does it sound to you guys? Recorded with Suhr Reactive load + Celestion Plus V30 IRs.

Wow that sounds huge..nice and heavy and tight, sounds evenly balanced out, overall I like it..
Does your amp have the slight hiss of a high gain amp ? I saw and read a few reviews and a few complained about it being noisy, but from what I have heard my EVH LBX had some hiss as well and didn't bother me any,and wouldn't keep me from buying one of these.MT 15's.

I had one on pre-order and canceled it but plan on one of these within next 6 weeks.

I guess it might have a bit of hiss but i'm running a ZUUL/noisegate so I don't hear a whole lot of it. One thing I do notice is that compared to my other heads when recording direct with a loadbox +IRs there is a slight hum going on. I may check all my cables to make sure that isn't the issue... I kind of wonder if the LED lights create that hum im hearing. It's not loud and only noticeable when i'm not playing but it is there for me.

Hahahahaha!!!! Your video's are always soooo awesome!!!!!! Where you watching that while trying to come up with the music?

Thanks dude! hehe... Nah just the opposite actually. I just throw on drum track in reaper and start messing around and once I'm done with it I'll listen to it a few times and try to visualize what kind of sequence would go good with it. Then I hit youtube and start searching. I literally found a trailer for Gamera 2016 that was never released which is what I used... I youtubed "japanese giant monster movies" lol.. then start editing in Sony Vegas

The hum might be coming from the loop. Just like the Archon I had a while ago, it’s pretty sensitive to the cables running near the transformer and/or power cable. Also just like my Archon, my Vox Delaylab is very noisy in the loop. I also have very old wiring in my house so I’m sure that’s at least part of the problem.

Great suff! I want one....What guitar and pick ups did you use?

Sounds great, really sounds like a Uberschall and a Dual Rec had a love child
Got that nice saturation on the pick attack, but still growls like a beast. Hard to believe its 15 watts.

Great clip! The MT-15 is a killer and untouchable for the $$$.

Ah... if its that sensitive then yeah mine is plugged into an ampete amp switcher with a bazillion cables plugged in with it lol. Not a huge deal, more of a direct recording thing, I think most peeps that don't play their amps with headphones on would never notice.

Using a 98 MIJ Orville Les Paul custom with Lindy Fralin Pure PAFs. Just got these pickups, sort of similar to BK Mules but I like these better.

Yeah i'm pretty happy to have a Recto/Uber-ish sound in my stable especially for the price. And dude it says 15 watts but damn this thing is way louder than my Friedman PT20.

Hey everyone! Had the privilege of doing the factory tour last Thursday for the first time. It’s amazing! So here’s the mt 15 connection: Met Doug Sewell, the mastermind behind the mt 15. He’s an amazing guy and really knowledgeable. He basically told us that he put the contents of the archon (and it’s 5 stages of gain) into a lunch box size amp. The details Tremonti added to the table were aesthetics and the fine tuning of the dials and obviously the fact he wanted an affordable lunch box sized amp. With that said, if you have all those components so close together it MAY create a hum ...not always, though...as they were designed to be further appart so that there was no overlap of interaction between all it’s components. He had a few mt15’s on the bench he was looking at right then - not in a back room forgotten about as some had suggested. They are actively trying to figure out a solution. It was cool to see the guts of that monster amp. He also suggested to reduce noise if it is really bothersome, you can swap the tubes out for 6v6’s (I think is the one he suggested) and this will most likely fix the issue - a hack if you will.
Also it was neat to see the prototype of the mt112 cab. They tried with a red piping just between the cab and the mesh. Tremonti apparently said it looked too much like the bat mobile. Haha. Looks like the shipment of those cabs will be coming in end of August.
Not sure if this helps anyone out, but that’s the info I got about our mt15’s.

I guess that would explain the hum I hear... I haven't gotten to play it cranked with a speaker too much yet so I'm not sure how noticeable it is way... I just figured it was a headphone/direct recording thing. Thanks I may look for the FB group and lurk for a bit.

Mine has that hum too. As soon as you take it off Standby...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Faint, but there. Something you definitely notice when playing at very low volumes or when you're recording I imagine.
As soon as you bring the volume up on the lead master the hum is indiscernible because of the normal level of preamp noise that comes with volume.

Well I'm glad to hear its not my cabling/amp switcher setup causing the hum... otherwise that kinda sucks for me cause i'm definitely a low volume play at home kind of guy. I still wonder if the LEDs could be part of it sort of like how florescent lights can add hum/noise etc.
