a lot of people don't like to pay for tone. people are free to complain how much Friedman, Bogner, Wizard...et al expensive amps cost but to be honest I wasn't expecting a lot from this amp but I was surprised. To my ears (and my buddies who heard it Saturday) they think it's a hell of an amp for the $2000 ish price tag.

That's true. People who have actually played the HR25 don't say that because they know how much amp is in that little head cab. It's no toy. Full size transformers and 5881's isn't something you would put in a little kick-around amp. This thing has some pretty good thump for a 25w amp. You can't quite get that low end from a Mini Rect. $2000 is a fair price considering that it's a Soldano. Mike Soldano should make the Lucky 13 and Decatone in a 25w package too at that price range.

When i posted the video on youtube I didn't hear how much low end came through but when I got to work and pulled it up (I have a sub under my desk) it was sounding pretty big in the low end. I was surprised as this was into the 2x12

the 4x12 Bogner it ran into Saturday sounded really good with it. on the bright side, if you wanted a Wizard MC25 you can pay $3195 :D

Here's 2 more vids of the amp without any pedals, just the guitar and a cable.
The first one is with my Suhr T with BKP Aftermaths; this guitar is alder with a roasted maple neck with a fat c neck shape

This is the Fender CS Tele Prot with the Josephina Red Hot Pickups; it's got an ash body. maple neck and rosewood board.

Couldn't agree more on the subject of paying for tone.
I also went through the EXACT same experience. I was expecting very little from this amp. Just had to try it. It ended up being a HUGE surprise and I fell in love with it.

The new videos sound fantastic BTW!

thank you kindly - this amp is shocking, cause you look at it and think it's another "lunchbox" them plug in and you're like "wait a minute - this ain't no stinkin' lunchbox"

Love the new clips without the boost also!! I really want one of these HR25's. Just sound killer.

Sounds stellar!
How do you compare it to the Friedman SS ?

Not really similar at all in terms of feel and attack, the HR25 is definitely squishier but can stay tight when boosted. The SS is pretty tight without the boosts. The SS had that Plexi thwack to the notes when you dig in. The Splawn Pro Stock is surprisingly close to the feel of the SS100, yet with not as much clarity and the Splawn has loads more gain - but I'll be changing out the preamps on the Splawn to get a different flavor. The HR25 does sound big though, it's certainly no micro amp.

Just picked one of these up today from GC used at a good deal, man this little bastard rocks..actually I really love both channels, the lower gain on ch one is that great just breaking up tone but sounds huge. I concur, with a little volume this thing really opens up and sounds killer...really pleasantly surprised with this one.

yep, it's a surprisingly good sounding amp, I wish they sold for about $1399 vs $2250, hard to put in up against a big 100w amp though...but what it does - it does well.

Picked up mine for $1599 and it's as new so I figured it was worth checking out. Honestly I was kind of hoping I wouldn't like it so much as last thing I really need is another amp but damn, this thing is a little monster. Both channels kill, the normal with some gain on it is one of the best overdrive low grind tones I've ever heard. I can find tons of uses for that alone, but then the high gain channel, just explodes with tone, super articulate, fat and huge sounding. High strings just sing with great attack and every note comes thru in complex chords as well. Built like a little tank this thing is no toy. Huge tone at manageable volumes but loud little f'er and it hold together from 1 to 11 on the controls. Loop works fine too, something that can't be said about the SLO. I want to get some Creambacks for my Mesa 1x12 recto cabs and make a little stack out of 2 of those and the HR25. Highly recommended.

Yeah that does seem to be the consensus...with tone adjustment I was surprised how good it is even with V30's, Creambacks would put it over the top. I run it much like everyone else it seems, gain on normal channel about 4, gain on Overdrive channel about 5, bass 9 or so, mids 4 and treble 3 to 4 and presence just under half. Man this thing has way more thump than I would have expected and it's in just the right frequencies so it never gets bloated, just adds that nice chunk on the bottom end. Can't wait to get home today and play her some more...

PSA GC has two more of these used, one at $1499 the other at $1599. This thing is a little monster, I turned it up a lot last night, stays about the same when turned way up (not always the case with smaller amps) and man is this thing loud for 25 watts.....
