I've had my eye on a Splawn for years and finally pulled the trigger. I was really torn between a Quick Rod and a Nitro, and this Quick Rod popped up for the right price so I went for it. It definitely needs a retube (ordering tomorrow) but so far I'm really digging it. I may end up with a Nitro yet, but for now, I'm having a blast with it.

I had a Splawn Competition and a Nitro. Both awesome amps. If I could only have one I would choose the Quickrod. Easier to get Nitro ish tones from the QR than QR ish tones from the Nitro. I also had a 6505+ and to me, the Nitro was what I always wanted out of my 6505. I mean I liked the 6505+ and played it for a few years but to me it was always missing something. My EL34 Nitro just sounded awesome and away went the Peavey. Funny though when I decided to sell one of them I actually sold the Nitro and kept the single channel Competition. It was actually a little more versatile for my needs. Like I said though, both awesome amps.

Ha, you're not helping. Now I want to keep this AND get a Nitro :)

I owned both.... The nitro stayed. Really just depends what you want though. If you lean towards the heavier side it is a nitro without a doubt.
