Just got this amp yesterday, and changed out all the tubes this morning. Still bonding with it, but here's a small sample of the angry Plexi tone. Reminds me of a Friedman Brown Eye, only more Marshally (if that makes sense)!

Recorded via iPhone, so it is what it is...

And, here is my Rockstah 2204, for comparison:

Color me impressed
I usually give up on videos half way through,
but watched yours all the way.

Sounds great, lil bit of a "cock'd" wah wah pedal vibe.
Bet it roars opened up

Thanks!
I'm thinking the cocked wah sound is mostly from the AT-1 pickup (and maybe the Greenbacks).

Sounds great and loving the Charvel.

Thanks, and my wife made fun of the Charvel color this afternoon. What does SHE know!?

Paint the kitchen to match the guitar and see how much she laughs.

I figured the "cock'd wah tone had to somewhat do with the recording as well.

Hows the PT compare to the Rockstah modded Marshall

Funny, you should see her childhood home's bathroom...

More Seafoam I guess?
Hard to say about the Rockstah vs. Suhr. The Rockstah has a browner, more alive feel to me. Could be the tubes though, I'll see.

.....too bad there wasnt a matching toilet, sink and tub

Oh the tub and walls match! Toilet matched until it was replaced a few years ago.

....from the man himself.

Just ordered a set of Chinese preamp tubes, thanks for the advice John!
I biased the power tubes at 65%.

I posted a question on the Suhr forum about which tube socket is which?

The Rockstah clip isn't really comparing apples to apples, since the McCarty I used had low output McCarty pickups (vs. the high output pickup in the Charvel), and the speakers were Celestion 75's (not Greenbacks).

I'm thinking the secret to the Rockstah is low negative feedback, because when I lower the feedback knob on the Suhr Marshall, it's very similar sounding and "brown". I should do another video now that I am finding my settings on the new to me Suhr. Stay tuned!

PS--I've never owned a JJE34L power tube that didn't go out in a blaze of glory (and kill a fuse) less than a year after I installed it. Go figure.

Ive tried a suhr modded marshall, I like the Rockstah much better...

Bet your Suhr didn't have my PT100 voicing?

*sigh* I guess if you're after a VH voicing. If you play "other" music than EVH licks all day...you might decide to open up your ears to different tones.

Glad you like the amp Andy. Keep rocking'!
