John Suhr mentioned that there are only 1 or 2 PT100 modded Marshalls out there! So, nobody really knows how good these sound in the room!

Nice tones Andy. Pickup and John's preamp tube advice will definitely make a difference. Don't under-estimate tuning to E-flat too, a lot of the VH tones comes from the spanking of 9 gauge strings on frets and maple and will also hit the front of the amp with a different EQ making it a little tighter and crunchier too. If your looking for that VH thing of course.

The best VH sounding amp I ever had was a 100 Watt Marshall Rockstah Mod 5, that amp nailed it. Here's a clip I did a long time ago when I had the amp and it was at a reasonable bedroom volume. I'm no Eddie but it was fun tone chasing him.

The Suhr amp doesn't even sound Marshall like IMO.

Rockstah all the way.

100 watt amps are the only way to go for hard rock.

Not to insult you, just my opinion.

Mark(RIP)put alot of time and research to achieve that, better then any of the techs/builders that have done work for Edward. It would have been nice if Mark and Edward met.Rockstah's Mod 5(done by Mark not by others)........

You nailed that... sounded amazing. Maybe time to "mod 5" my 2204 clone.

Does the Suhr mod add a tube, split-up the cathode follower, or add a diode bounding circuit?

The Suhr PT100 mod added a 4th preamp tube for the higher-gain channel, no diodes.

Man, that version of Unchained really nails the VH tone - why did you wind up selling YOUR Rockstah mod 5 amp??

I'm an ass, that's why I sold it. I have a serious modded amp addiction and was onto others. It also was a one channel amp and at the time I need a couple channels with the band.

Let me know if you want to buy my Rockstah!
