John Suhr mentioned that there are only 1 or 2 PT100 modded Marshalls out there! So, nobody really knows how good these sound in the room!

Don't under-estimate tuning to E-flat too, a lot of the VH tones comes from the spanking of 9 gauge strings on frets and maple and will also hit the front of the amp with a different EQ making it a little tighter and crunchier too. If your looking for that VH thing of course.
The best VH sounding amp I ever had was a 100 Watt Marshall Rockstah Mod 5, that amp nailed it. Here's a clip I did a long time ago when I had the amp and it was at a reasonable bedroom volume. I'm no Eddie but it was fun tone chasing him.

The Suhr PT100 mod added a 4th preamp tube for the higher-gain channel, no diodes.
Man, that version of Unchained really nails the VH tone - why did you wind up selling YOUR Rockstah mod 5 amp??

I'm an ass, that's why I sold it. I have a serious modded amp addiction and was onto others. It also was a one channel amp and at the time I need a couple channels with the band.
