Congrats...LOVED my PT100...best amp I've played..so far. It's currently sold and on her way out to a lucky gentleman in Portland, OR. My Friedman Kitchen sink comes in today and Im praying that it's not a step back from my PT.. had to sell the PT to free up some funds and got lucky finding a MINT '79 JMP Friedman BE/HBE/JBE/C45/SAT/FX Loop.. Just need a killer high gain 1 channel amp to suffice my current band and personal needs.

You will not be disappointed with the PT100...the honeymoon period really doesn't end with it. congrats and good luck.. Im in HIGH anticipation of the new upgraded PT100 which should see daylight springtime 2012.. Hoping to have funds by then

Counting the hours til my Friedman Kitchen Sink arrives

Based on the clips I've heard (never seen one of these in a store or at a gig) they sound incredible!

But.....why do they have to be so ugly? :scared:

Congrats..
I remember seeing a vid that Pete did for a revision of the PT100 . Never heard anything more about it , and it sounded killer .

Cool. I really like my PT100, so much so that after I got it I was able to sell my beloved Bogner 101A that I swore I'd never sell.

I too had a OD100 SE+ and I really didn't get along with it for some reason, but the PT100 has really worked out for me. I have Koko boost that I use very infrequently, but when you engage the mid-boost with that, on channel 3 of the PT100, it almost sounds/feels like you have one of those Fernandes Sustainers. Very cool.

Can someone explain the tonal range of the PT100 compared to the Marshall Jubilee 2555

I've got a Koko Boost as well... but haven't tried it with the PT yet. So you like the mid-boost with channel 3 eh? I'll have to give it whirl. I heard one video clip by samhill I think, and the Koko killed with his OD100SE+. Just the right kick when needed. I also want to give my BB Preamp a shot, as that has been my #1 boost for awhile now.

The PT covers a much wider range of tones from clean to mean. The PT has far better clean tones, and way more gain on tap. The PT is overall a brighter, more cutting and tighter sounding amp. The 2555 is a little darker and smoother. More mellow sounding. If you really want to nail a specific sound, the 2555 is a cool amp. I've owned the Jubilee 2555, 2550, and 2555SL Slash Signature amp, and they all were great amps... just a limited range of tones. Classic and hard rock are obviously it's strong suit. Wouldn't mind owning another. Some of the used prices on the 2555 are nuts though.

The Koko boost just kills!!! It mellows out the low mid hump on the SE+ and gives it more mid cut through the mix character. Bestest boost ever!!

Thanks for the info. I play punk rock like bad religion or Rise against and i was just wondering if this would be a better fit for me. i love my 2555SL i have 2 of them, that's how much i like them. I guess i was also wondering if the PT100 had more lower mids than the 2555SL.

Love me a low mid hump. That to me isn't a negative at all and +1 on the Koko with the SE+. Turns that fucker into a real fire breather. My only issue with it has been a sterility to the sound. Lacking that organic bit or mojo or whatever. But it combined with something or using it for drop tunings is where I'm at with it.

I also used a koko boost with my PT100... adds that EXTRA flavor that really tightens things up and puts the PT over the top. Used the mid-boost around 9-10 oclock with toggle far left. Very articulate and creamy without hurting tone.

Gonna probably use 'boost' of koko with my Friedman for leads. Should give me a bit more volume without coloring tone. Looking forward to setting her all up, grabbing a bottle of wine, and digging into the Friedman this evening.

Hey glad you dig your new amp! John is the man, he really basically said "I know what you want" and that's pretty much what the amp is, with some subtle tweaks. Enjoy!!!!

Thanks Pete. You hit the ball out of the park with this one. :D

BTW: I did try running the Koko boost with the mid-boost on, knob just about 9:00... thru the 2nd channel, gain set around 7, and it kills. I like the mid-boost more for solos and single note stuff, and the regular boost for chords/rhythms.

PT100 is a cool amp. I liked it a lot more than the other Custom Audio amps I've heard.

May I ask where did you try it? ;)

My friend Amplifire had a PT100 for a little while. I played a few CAE amps over at a fellow's place in Long Island a few years back but didn't like them. The PT is the first amp from them I've really liked. Pete Thorn has great ears so I imagine they made the amp exactly how he wanted it sound sound, and it shows.
i kinda said the same thing on huge racks, except that i heard players make the od-100 sound amazing even though i could never figure it out or bond with the sound of it myself.

but i just know i would love a PT100.

Am curious as to what u think as if the Kitchen sink is a step back or if U r happier with it over the pt ?? every time I here that demo clip by pete it makes me want to order one and finally end this amp quest

The Kitchen Sink is definitely not a step backwards from the PT100.. Both gain channels are incredible and their own thing. The PT100 is of course more versatile with the amazing clean channel and ch3(ch2 boosted).. At this time all I need is a killer gain/dirty channel with different gain stages, which is exactly what I have with my Friedman. Both FX loops are transparent and incredible! No tone sucking or coloring at all  I actually think my Friedman is quieter than the PT100 was when master turned up.. not a big difference tho. Looking forward to getting the new power and pre tubes in the Friedman..should smooth out and add a bit more bottom to it..making it just that much better.

If you're thinking about purchasing a PT100... do it! You will not be disappointed. If your ears like mid-voiced, marshallesque amps with some bottom and thump.. You cannot go wrong with the PT100.. It's tight, focused, smooth and can get nasty. Covers so much ground. Cheerz
