So it's not really news after my other thread, but here she is:

VHT Deliverance 60

I couldn't be happier with the trade. I was having doubts before I let the Mesa go, but after a couple days of playing this amp, they are gone. I've never played an amp that had such a reactive set of controls. Between the two gain controls and the preamp and power amp tone controls, I can get basically any tone I'm after. And more than that, is how the guitar knobs affect the amp. I can set the amp for super high gain settings and then get a huge range of tones just by playing with the knobs. It's really amazing: set the amp for killer high gain and I can get everything from a beautiful clean with a slight edge to it, to a crunchy vintage tone, to a slaying metal sound. Set treble at 0, mids at about 10 or 11 o clock, bass at 1 o'clock, presence low, depth high, neck pickup, and gain nearly maxed, and you've got a killer doom tone. Modern metal, djent, etc, all really easy to find. With my Mesa, I felt like I tried every single knob combo on all four channels and still couldn't find a tone I really loved. I have yet to hear a tone out of the VHT that didn't make me go HELL YES! The cleans are absolutely beautiful. Not crystal clear, but so much great tone it's kind of ridiculous. And yes, your playing mistakes Really show. Even at the highest gain settings and high volume, you can still hear all the individual chorded notes, the natural sound o a vibrating string, and your pick attack. Even with compressed high output active pups, the amp is still highly sensitive to pick attack, fretting technique, etc. there is no question this amp is going to force me
To be a better player. Oh, and it takes a delay in front a lot better than I thought it would. One thing i do miss about the Mesa is the sustain, thing was more like a synth than a guitar amp sometimes. But where adding treble to the Mesa made things piercing and fizzy, the VHT jut cuts. So much cut without being piercing or thin or fizzy. And so much bass, too. I actually have to run the depth and bass knobs at around noon or it's too much bass for my speakers.

At any rate, to say the least, I'm stoked. :)

Congrats. Check out the fryetteusersforum. Lots of good info. Try using the less mode and find a slightly dirty clean tone G111:30 G2 12:30 and use an od pedal to get you into high gain and a thicker more sustaining tone. That was one of the recommendations by Fryette amps head of support. Give you almost 2 channels without riding volume knob. It also works they way you are running it as well. It is really hard to get a bad sound out of the D60. I could never get a tone I really loved with my old Boogie.

Congrats. The clips I have heard of those amps are really good!

Wow..

as clear of a picture your description paints, I'd love to hear what you're talking about.

Congrats!!

congrats =0 definitely an amp i'd like to try

i had the Sig:X for a while cool amp, but i think it can be picky on speakers, with v30s it was decent, but i think with matching cab it would scream

Congratulations and HNAD!

I had the opportunity to do a full rehearsal with a D60 and FatBottom 2x12. Awesome Marshall tone when cranked up and super cleans when the volume was rolled down. Didn't really lament that this is a single-channel amp with no loop. The tones are that good and if you don't need effects this is a beast of an amp!

Cheers! Clips!!

Agreed. Would like to hear it with some other speakers. Will try some clips soon.

now get a VHT cab and REALLY see the magic :D

I'm really doubtful that the difference between his Mills and a VHT cab will be significant. The Mills is probably better, tbqh.

"Better..." Always love that one.

It's certainly possible that to his ears the Mills will sound better with the D60 but I would certainly encourage him to try the D60 with a D412 or D212 to decide for himself.

Of course, I agree. But this is Chicago. There isn't a single VHT/Fryette dealer in this state. If he can find one of these cabs to try out, of course, yeah, who wouldn't? I'm just saying he already has an extremely top of the line cab. Having played the D60 through an FB and through a Mills AB, the Mills smoked it. That's just my $0.02.

I've played the D60 through a number of top notch cabs... also played it through the FB and the D cabs and the D cab "smoked" the FB cab. That's my $0.03.

FYI Guitar Center in Arlington Heights has a mint greenback front loaded Fat Bottom cab used in stock when I was there last Friday, I think marked at $799

Cool

:) Congratulations...

Here is one of my favorite sounds .....o'clock....

Switch-LESS

GAIN1-10/11
GAIN2-full
Master-9/11.... usually around 10..... (remember the MASTER makes a big difference in the voice. The poweramp cranked into overdrive on this amp can be great.)
TREBLE-1
MIDDLE-10/12
BASS-1
PRESENCE-12
DEPTH-1

This is probably my favorite rhythm / crunch type sound (can be used for other stuff as usual)...... start here and fine tune for your guitar / cab (I adjust the DEPTH & PRESENCE first)....
Steve Fryette recommended something similar when I asked about getting a TOOL /Ænima type sound....

Fwiw, dirtyfunkg traded me this head and played this exact head through this exact Mills in my studio.
