So I ordered a new V30 countess from Music Zoo last Friday. The amp showed up today. I was about to fire it up when I reached in to make sure the single ended mode switch was set to 2 valves and the switch broke off. Yep didn't even get to fire it up. I packed it back up and called Music Zoo. They are sending me a return label. My wife says I should try it out and maybe have them send me another one. NOT BLOODY LIKELY.
Was really looking forward to trying this amp but if they are going that cheap on the switches I'm sure they are doing it else where also .
So long victory

That totally sucks... was it a quality control type of thing or a shipping/ beat up box/ UPS kind of thing?

I'm saying! Man I am SURE other folks have ordered a VH4 and had something break on day 1. It could end up being one of the best maps you've played.

QC, the box was in good shape

I see these amps being pimped seemingly damn everywhere lately. I was eyeing one up but I don't like stories like this one.

Sucks foe sure. On one hand I agree with what's been said above that it could be an amp you dig from a tone/feel standpoint, but I'd be really put out about the switch breaking right out of the gate.

How does the quality look on the other components?

I see rob chapman and his minion rabea massad pushing them like crazy!

So I decided to try it anyway . I can’t tell but I think the switch is on single ended mode because it’s not as loud as I expected . Anyway the amp sounds horrible . Extremely bassy and farty. Again what a disappointment .

I've blown the main power fuses on both the VH4 I owned on their first power up.

You should give it another shot. Amplifier manufacturers don't make every little component. For all we know, it could have been defective from the switch manufacturer. Victory amps sound incredible. Just have them replace it and you'll be happy with the return.

The amp should have been tested in all modes before it shipped, IMO. If you can't flip one switch without it breaking when it's brand new, that tells me there wasn't proper QC done. That would be a deal killer for me, too.

A friend of mine bought a used one and it sounded the same way. So much so that it sounded like something was wrong with it, so back it went.

I was taking a chance on buying a Victory to start with .All I had to go on was you tube videos. So it was an iffy purchase to start with .You know just hoping that it sounds like the vids .Then when there is something wrong I can't just take it back. It has to be shipped back . Then if I want another one I have to have it shipped to me and then hope theres nothing wrong with it .
There is always the possibility that the store I bought it from had it out on the floor and every little kid that walked through flipped the switch 100 times. I have no way of knowing. At any rate IMHO its just not worth the hassle of shipping back and forth on an amp that I may not like anyway .
