both are damn good...this might help. It's like 2 different hot rod builds, Helios with catalytic converters and mufflers; Wizard with straight pipes. Wizard just seems to breathe better if you know what I mean...maybe it's their Custom Transformers but it's pretty ridiculous how good the MC100 is.

How much are the MC25s? Never mind, just found it....3k....

Congrats... One of the VERY few amps on my bucket list. Maybe someday... :)

I'd love to trade my SLO for a Wizard MC. They just sound so fat.

I was a prior SLO owner as well... you will like the switch, the immediacy of attack, push back, and overall bigness of the sound. It tracks like a Marshall... no smear.

It's taken me a while to come to my senses and some really frivolous amp buying to come full circle. I had a MC50 2 years ago that haunted me after I sold it. Well countless amps later, I now own a monster of an amp - the Wizard MCII 100w :rawk:
The Wizard just pushes air like no other amp I've owned - it's ridiculous. The gain control on the rhythm channel really gets into some great crunchy tones - lead channel is raw and jaw dropping. Loves boost pedals too
Jealous... Nice score!

Where is the Bogner Feelios???

Very nice. Always wanted to play on one of these. Clips, please!....

Congrats. Scotty is a really good Dude. He goes way out of his way to get things done. He also has a great communication direct to Rick, I think he has his cell phone
I bought another Cameron mod from Brett Chassen and Bob Kulick's Studio. After I got the amp I got talking to Brett and he was going off about the new Wizard amps. He said he had five and ordered two more for the studio. He said they were unbelievable and killed everything live and recorded. That was the reason he was selling a bunch of amps. Stupid me had to ask.
Not too long after Scotty started to carry the line, I bought my 1st MCII 100 from him. I had it shipped to Fedex Office and was able to leave work early that day.
It was about 3:30 when I fired it up. It had an issue(as rare as that is). I am fairly sure it was a switching relay. I immediately called him up. He only had fifty watters left. I gave him an authorization and we hung up quick as it was getting late for shipping. He went out to the warehouse, boxed it up himself, and had another guy take it across the street to drop off at Fedex where it was overnighted for a low cost to me.
Next day I shipped back the 100. Scotty found out they had another 100 in another location and shipped it to me. I had them side by side and decided on the 100 but it was a tough call. 100 had more thump but the 50 was a little bit sweeter in the mids. Killer, built like war machine amps.
I had an earlier MC1 before any revisions but it had some issues. The MCII and the revised MC1 are as good as it gets. Down the road I found a mint MTL and for what I like it edged out the MC2. Way more gain. Not like the older Metal. From what I was told the Metal was closer to the MC in gain with a little bit different voicing but that might not be accurate. I would have kept both decided to sell the MC2 and the member that bought it still loves it death.
You made a great decision to buy one. FWIW I had a Helios side by side with the MCII.

i recently got the mtl that was sold on this forum

it took a while to learn the nuances of the amp

but I am really digging it now.

it has cut and clarity like no other high gainer ive had before.

but the thing that i like best is the gobs of tight low end that doesnt flub out.

it is the biggest sounding amp that i own.

I really wanna try a current version MC2 though

How much gain would you say is in the MTL, compared to other popular amps ?

hard to say because the character of the gain is so clear in comparison to other amps.

it actually has so much gain in the circuit that you can get the amp to squeal like a banshee

i think that rick tweaks the circuit to run flat out as much gain per gain stage which makes the amp finnicky with microphonic preamp tubes.

even with tons of distortion, the amp remains clear and relatively uncompressed. you can always hear your pick attack and low end note separation.

the amp still reacts to your pick attack and doesnt become compressed muddy mess.

Let's hear that bitch!!!!

The looks of the headshell/etc are killer!

Any chance you make an audio demo ?

I don't care if you throw beer cans at the strings... Let's hear that bad mamma-jamma!

here's a clip of the amp - first the lead channel, then the clean then back to lead, I fiddle with the contour and presence a little bit. the boost on the amp was not on, only using Mesa Flux, OD808 and Koko Boost to drive the amp a little harder
