Well, the Rivera M100 landed today. I had forgotten what a killer clean channel this amp had. Dialed it in for some very convincing Deluxe Reverb tones. The Lead channel reminds me a lot of the Mark IV, in that you can tweak for days. The smallest adjustment radically changes the tone and feel of the amp. I dialed in a JCM 800ish tone to start with. Still need to twist the knobs some more to get it dialed in for the band. Tonally it is a completely different beast compared to my EVH 5153. But that's the fun part. Finding your tone on a new amp. Here's a quick pic for now. I'll try to get some video up soon.

Nice! Looks clean! Yes dialing in a new rig is a blast. I've been messing with tube combinations..pre and power on my new to me 78 JMP. While I was at it I checked bias on my Jubilee...way off. So I was going to throw the same tubes in when I realized I had a bunch of EL34s in a small box. Looked through them and found 2 early 70s Mullards I had forgotten about. Been using Winged C for a few years now in my Marshalls, Siemens as well. I put the Mullard's in and wow they sound good! Can't wait to hear clips of your Rivera when you can..

Happy NAD!! Glad she made it there safe!

Cliiippss!!!

Wow never tried a Rivera before, but I dig it! Rock on!

Congrats! I have its little brother, the M60. These are just great amps. Got mine 6 years ago for $400. Make sure you experiment with the footswitchable FX loop as well. You can crank the volume and use the output on the FX loop as a second master. Works great that way...

And you are dead nuts on regarding the clean channel. Sounds as good as any old classic Black Face Fender IMO.

nice one. just curious, is this a new amp or a recovered one? I have one from the 80's, black carpet and all.

I have had 3 Rivera's over the years. The clean channels are the best of any amp I have ever played. The gain channels take some tweaking but the goods are in there.

According to the paper work that I got with the amp, this one started life in 1991 as a 212 combo. The headshell looks to be circa early 2000s. I need to order a reverb tank for it, as that didn't make the transfer. I had forgotten how brutally honest these amps are. Plug in a great guitar and it rewards you with some smoking tones. Plug in a cheap one and it will let you know that as well. Lol.

strata2628, if you have a moment, could you look on the inside of the amp and pull any information you can off the reverb tank? I need to order one for this head.

Dude, I had a pair of those Mullards, They were so balanced, amazing. Sadly, my friend had my amp in his car and he got T-boned so the amp was thrown around in the accident and the tubes were damaged.

Yeah man I had forgotten about them. I still say you can get great tones and longevity out of good but used vintage tubes. That's all I run now and I haven't had a failure yet. 100s of gigs. Only tube failures were new production.

How's the gain side? Close to an 800?

It's got the kinda vibe with a lot more gain. A little darker than your standard JCM800.
