I think my Mod Pro is going to go bye soon. Already sold my Echo Pro. The L6 stuff is great in terms of flexibility but I'm just not happy with the volume drop and overall quality. Anyway as the title indicates I'm on the lookout. What say you RT?

You can mod the Line 6 stuff to take care of the volume drop. It's just a matter of changing a couple resistors. Did it with mine and it works great. Not sure if that would sway your decision or not though.

You know where to find the mods? I looked on the L6 site and that place was a complete waste of time   . Total n00bville. I've started the transformation to analog FX already but hell if I can hold off on that end of things for a bit why not? I'll look on the webz some more after dinner...

I've got an early 80's Boss PH-1r. Funky chewing phase tone and somewhat comparable to MXR Phase 90 and can get semi univibe-ish if set right. IMO (my pedal anyway) must be bypassed in a loop when not in use as some bleed of the effected phase sound is present in the signal when the effect is off.

this is a custom builder on ebay, he has been selling these for years, true bypass, quality parts, he has a video for this pedal there too, he wants $125.00 buy it know, free shipping, but he does take best offers, I got mine for $99.00 dollars, killer pedal check it out, p.s. just because there is no name on it doesn't mean it don't rock

Reminds me of the BYOC.

Cool man. So long as it's not that cocksucker Carl that got booted from here. . Sounds pretty good though. True bypass is key. About a decade ago I was using one of those Sovtek Small Stone's and I must say I was pretty underwhelmed. Truth is I'd like a Mutron Bi-phase. I coulda picked one up a few years ago for $450. I'm still kicking myself.

Maxon Phaser PT999...70's ish ...hard to find, sounds good and was used by someone from the alman bros. betss or someone like that.

Just replace R36 and R37 with 24k resistors. They're 1206s.

Badass Gino. 40 Helmet to the rescue!
No problem. This mod can be done on the DL4, MM4 and FM4. Also, in all my research I think these are the only pictures posted online. I think Robert Keeley wouldn't be too happy with me.  I got all of the info from TGP.

Here's the deal. At one point around May 2000 a few hundred (mostly) DL4's got out that had caps to ground after the true bypass switch... To make a long story short, they were put there to help with RF by unknowing engineers who didn't understand true bypass. DON'T GET ME STARTED! I caught this mistake and had thousands of them reworked to have the caps removed. you can look on the circuit board and see where these caps would go... The ref numbers are... C1,C36, C23, & C24...they're easily traced from the jacks. So, you need to have those caps removed if they are there!

As for the gain loss... that can be fixed by replacing R36 & R37 with a 24K value resistor... good luck!
Replace all the input/output buffer components with high quality parts for clarity of signal. Remove the electrolytic caps (C4 and C8), replace with Nichicon and WIMA; Remove TL072 op-amps (U3 and U22) and replace with Burr Brown hi-fi OPA2134UA.

Also, that phaser that Marshall Law recommended is just a modded BYOC phaser. You can get the kit for $75 and, with a little research, do the mod yourself. I guess it depends on your level of confidence with doing that kind of thing. That mod isn't worth an extra $50 but you are also paying for his labor in building. Honestly, if he is going to charge that much he could've at least painted the enclosure. If you want any more help with the DIY side of things, let me know.

I really dig the Psylocibe from Homebrew, I'm still tweaking it and finding new stuff it does.

Phase 90 - 90 out of phase
Vibe - 720
Thats what I have read.
The vibe goes way deeper.

All univibes are phasers not all phasers are univibes.

 Thanks for clearing that up

Are you looking for more of a rotovibe sound or a phase 90 type of phasor?

Well I honestly want both for different things. I want to run some stuff in series tucked behind the distortion just b4 my time based stuff. I'm figuring the Vibe will work best for this application. I'm thinking phaser out front. Is my logic off base here?

I do not use any phaser in a effects loop other than the one that is in a rack digital effect. Vibe does not sound best in loop. Like I siad before Phase 90 and Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe are the two I go to first. Each has there own thing going on.

The voodoo vibe looks awesome, but man is it expensive, it cost more than one of my amps...

The pedals I use the most and tend to always bring is my Crybaby 535, Zvex Fuzz Factory and the Voodoo Vibe. With these three pedals I have a huge range of tones/texture/etc. to work with.

I use the stereo out on the vibe to go to two amps and use the level to get foot switch channel effect from single channel amps. With or without the effects part of the vibe.
Just turn the intensity down to remove the effect.
