Don't hear Pepper Keenan's name too often. Nice pick.

Ok, I'll take a shot and then do some 'splainin' after my list.

1. Kurt Cobain
2. Phil Ensor (Limp)
3. Dan Lukacinsky (The Suicide Machines)
4. Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise)
5. El Hefe, Eric Melvin (NOFX)

I picked up the guitar to learn Nirvana songs, but my listening habits quickly pivoted to punk and ska. I stayed there for a while, got really comfortable, started writing music, changed tastes, and then didn't continue to learn the guitar parts to the new music I was listening to. So I never learned how to play death metal even though it's what I listen to most of the time when I'm listening to anything under the rock umbrella. I'm just a sloppy punk guitarist who writes stuff that's too complicated and hard for me to play.

1. Kurt Cobain
2. Phil Ensor (Limp)
3. Dan Lukacinsky (The Suicide Machines)
4. Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise)
5. Daron Malakian (SOAD)

I'ma change my #5 from the Nofx duo to Daron from System of a Down. I play in drop D almost all of the time and I do a lot of the clean stuff he did when he would like...deconstruct his riffs and break em down. Those clean intros to heavy riffs are also all over my own songs and in retrospect, I was never good enough to play like El Hefe so I just learned the power chords from NOFX songs and called it a day.

4. Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise)
5. El Hefe, Eric Melvin (NOFX)
Fuckin love both Pennywise and NOFX.... Twin Brothers I went to school with at Waialua moved from Hermosa Beach to Hawaii, and then back to HB, those guys grew up since kindergarten with all the guys in Decendents, Pennywise, Black Flag, Agent Orange. Fletcher was best man in my buddies wedding, I've had a good hook up for PW, Descendents, Agent Orange, OFF! shows through them for years. Funny how its always been shit like Schenker, Kotzen EJ, and then punk for me....attitude and energy full time all the time

Just gonna leave this here for anyone that may have no clue how killer tight the NOFX guys are... Also need to mention background vocals, spot freaking on....

And since we're going down the Fat Mike rabbit hole.... (Chris Shifflet from the Foo Fighters on this one...)

Dexter/Noodles (Offspring)
Hetfield
Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio)
Jade Puget (AFI)
Hefe/Melvin (+Steve!) (NOFX)

Some of those are probably more for songwriting, but I find myself incorporating their styles into my own playing. Really grinding out old Offspring/Metallica was where I got most of my chops from.

Surprised/not surprised no Ace eh? You like Paul's rhythm work more than Ace's leads I would guess.

This makes me want to hear you play sometime. Really nice mix of guitarists there.
Not to embrass him, but I like his playing alot, dude can play....., he kindly answered a question I posted on his youtube channel about a riff, I did not realise he was on here as well
