I met Chapman Stick player Steve Adelson for the first time at NAMM, and 5 minutes later he asked me to sit in with him at the AudioNova booth. Thought you guys might enjoy this clip as it's a little different. We are jamming on the Pat Metheny tune "Phase Dance". I was learning it on the spot, and you can hear Steve directing in the video. Steve is a great player and musician ... this is one of the things I love about NAMM ... the impromptu jamming.

Holy crap learning Pat Metheny on the fly?????

That jam was freaking HAWT!

Carl, would you have any backings with that style of chord progressions? Would love something like that to noodle around on, was trying to rip off some licks like a mofo while watching.

Love Sticks ever since I saw Levin with one.

The real question is: do all Stick players LOOK like Tony Levin?

Cool vid Carl!

great stuff, i used to watch steve play when he would come play at the 20th century guitar shows when they used to have them at five towns college, used to be a great show they eventually moved it to the vanderbuilt and then sports plus but i guess they dont do it anymore?

I don't have any backing tracks for that type of stuff ... but having said that, I am working on a series of backing tracks to work on improv! Another project that I am trying to find time to complete. Will keep you posted on that ... and thanks for the kind words once again! How's your chops coming along?

I used to go that show too ... although I never did see Steve play there. As far as I know. they don't run the show anymore ... too bad, it was a lot of fun.

So is the Chapman stick all about hammer ons?

Yes! You seem to be "tapping" the fret board with both hands. Steve actually has one Stick which is fretless on the bass side ... crazy stuff.

Slow Carl, very slow :aww: Tough making time to practice everything that you want to practice and then you start just screwing around
