I've had a Metro plexi build for about 4 months now that Dave did everything to other than the HBE. Pretty much like yours here. It's may favorite Marshall style amp I've ever owned by far. I know you've had many cream of the crop amps and I have had some as well..... I agree one of the best.

Yeah I know how it is. Honestly I've have had so many amps over the years that I feel that there really isn't anything out there that will fit me better than the Friedman. Now I'm more into guitars..... it's a sickness man.

Line out method is the best. especially if you can only afford one other amp. one dry and one wet. I have a little alesis power amp but???? its kinda weird.
