Picked up a 1982 Marshall JCM 800 cab loaded with vented celestion g12t-75's for a solid price over the weekend. I am surprised by these speakers. They are still 75's for sure but they seem smoother and not as scooped as the newer g75t's. So far with my Mark IV its a killer sound but haven't really tried it with any other amps. So why did celestion change the design on these?

Likely a mixture of cost cutting measures and difficulty sourcing original materials (sometimes cone suppliers have to change the pulp recipe due to diminishing resources, environmental laws, etc).
