I picked up a 1976 black back 4x12 a few months ago and last weekend managed to score a 1972 1982b with the original green backs  The slant cab has 55hz speakers and the straight has 75hz. The grill cloth tore around the logo support so I spent last weekend painstakingly sewing up. Not the best thread match but looks right on this ratty thing. Anyway, I’m thrilled to have a full on vintage Marshall stack and wanted to share some pics

Wow ! Congrats ! That is awesome, nice mojo with old stuff like that AND that drum kit in your sig, got a pic of that ???

Congrats! I find the RIC cones from 72-76 or so to be my favorite over Pre Rola or Blackbacks....not sure when the fire happened but your 72 could be Pre Rola or RIC. I have a 76 with RIC Creamback GBs, 3 from 76 and 1 from 74. Great tone.

The stickers are rola but you may be right about them being pre-rola cones. I was doing some research and it’s defintley possible. The cab was described as a 76 with black backs but they looked green in the sellers pictures. Sure enough they were and all the codes and serial points to 72. And it does sound killer!!

If they say Rola then they are the RIC cones. Better for HR/metal IMO than the pre Rolas. And, to my ears WAY better than the Kurt Mueller BBs. I'm not much of a fan, I feel the reissues sound better to me than the 3 BB cabs I've owned in the past....kinda generic/sterile to me.

Nice grab! My '76 looked exactly like that for a while, as if it was kicked off the back of a Motörhead tour bus...  But, I finally gave it some TLC to get it in shape. It got new metal handles, new casters, a new metal jack plate, some loose wiring shored up, and finally a new grill cloth. Looks and sounds fantastic now, solid as a rock...

Nice  My buddy said the same thing; looks like it’s been in the road with Motörhead for 20 years

Nice!!!! Can I ask what you paid for it? I was curious if prices have come down to something more reasonable for early 70's cabs with original speakers.

I usually see them priced anywhere from 1500-2500 which might be ok if you know they are pre-rola speakers and are in mint shape. Even Blackback cabs are crazy high.

I've never played either a pre-rola or a RIC coned celestion, only Blackbacks and Tanbacks and Heritages. I've been very happy with my Heritage 55Hz 12H-30's. I will be placing an order for the Heritage 75Hz 12H-30's tomorrow.

First off, let me preface this by saying I always try to buy low and sell high so if I ever sell something I can get me money back out of it. I paid $565 for the straight cab with green backs and I paid $400 for the slant cab with black backs. The black back cab was missing one so I replaced it with a newer green back which cost $90. I found them both on the FB marketplace locally which I scour obsessive along with Craigslist.
