NCD: Bogner 412 w/ Greenbacks and Marshall 1960AV

That's right... DOUBLE NCD. Well, it was actually last Friday, but just now getting around to ranting and raving about it. First, I bought the Bogner Standard 412 w/ Greenbacks from PhilC here on the boards, and what a great deal it was. I want it to be opposite my existing Bogner 412 once I get my second head to build my wet/dry rig. Because I already have my EVH speakers in the first Bogner, I don't really want the Greenbacks...

Hence the Marshall 1960AV. I used to have a 1960BV, and I probably should have kept it. I really like those speakers. They have the effect of removing that Bogner blanket, even when thrown into a Bogner cab. They should be nice and bright with plenty of mids for my wet rig.

I've already swapped the speakers to put the V30's in the new Bogner cab, but I've not really played either at full volume yet. I'll hopefully have the house to myself soon. We'll see.

In the meantime, I've got an extra cab to sell. Anybody want a Marshall 1960AV with well worn-in Greenbacks?

Thanks! I love the way it sounds. I'm right at home with those Marshall V30s. Still learning the sweet spot with the EVH Greenbacks. It seems that they don't sound really good until the volume is up at least past 12:00.

Just played them a moderate volume. The V30 Bogner definitely gets the cake to my ears at this volume. It sounds loads better than I remember my old X of V30s and K100s I had in there. I don't know if my tastes have changed or if it just doesn't suit my style any longer. As I stated in another thread somewhere, I LOVE the way arpeggios and those Maiden-esque single-string melodies sound thru V30s. One day I'll have the clams to run two amps together. Here's to hoping I get the best of both worlds.

Congrats! Also, the reason why those Marshall Vintage speakers make the Bogner cabs sound a little brighter is because they are brighter than Celestion V30s. Just be aware that when you talk about "Vintage 30s" there are like 5 different types. The V30s you get stock in Bogner cabs are not the same as the ones that come in Mesa cabs and are not the same as the Marshall "Vintage" variety.

Yep! That's why I targeted the Marshall cab in particular. A while back I started a thread about the differences and got the low-down including the obligatory Steven Fryette comment discussing the differences.

you know I wasn't genuinely a fan of V30's myself but they work out real well in the Bogner cab with whatever head I ever ran through it but its a perfect match for the101B
