NCD: Friedman 4x12

I picked up a used Friedman 4x12 cab from GC using my GC bucks. Greenbacks on top, V30's on bottom, and vintage grill cloth. Playing an EVH Stealth. I have to say the greenbacks sound great! That warm chewy fat growl is what I love! I am not digging the V30's. Spikey fizz.

What to do? Get 2 more greenback reissues to replace the V30's? Or just get the matching EVH Stealth cab with Heritage greenbacks?

Don't mess with it would be my suggestion. Let the V30's break in and you may be surprised.

What he said. You gotta whack those V30's for several hours with some volume and loosen them up. At least give them a chance before you swap 'em out.

Face the cab face down on the floor crank your amp create a loop with a nice heavy riff...go have lunch and dinner .... It'll sound much better when properly broken in!

The cab is used. I am not sure how well the speakers are broken in. Like I stated in my OP, the greenbacks sound great though. Could The GB break in quicker than V30's?

Well I got around to running a loop at a tolerable loud level through the cab for about 6 hours straight each on 2 days. I recorded a "song" with a ton of bass from YT through my smart phone on my Boss RC-2 looper. Gangsta music does have a purpose! I have noticed a GOOD change in the speakers.

Not to be an ass but how do you know the greenbacks sound great and the V30s are harsh? Did you mic them and record them?
