This reminds me the other my wife said she went over to someones house in Lake Elsinore to do a Mary Kay party and she said "it was really weird because they had all these dead animals in their house". I'm from Indiana and told her that it is very common for people to "have dead animals in their house." I just laughed and thought silly wife, you who grew up a liberal in Southern California. It was cute nonetheless

Nice score!

Sorry but I think that's disgusting..

i had a friend in New Zealand's northern island that said the same thing. he thought it was barbaric almost.

in these parts is normal to go hunting and get your own food. its fun as well - great American pass time

unless you've eaten home cooked deer meat before you wouldn't know what you're missing. labored with seasoning and slow cooking - meat so tender it falls off the bones by itself and you could pick it off with your fingers.

some really good food Tawlks. then there is seasoned deer jerky, use it for spaghetti, stews, etc

you have not lived until you've tried it, im jealous he got a kill AND it is worthy for a trophy rack

I don't eat meat, it's something I strongly disagree with, though I by no means disparage meat for it's taste, I've eaten some great meat, but eating meat is not for me personally. I'm usually not one to have a go at meat eaters but this is kinda upsetting to see. =/

there will be more pictures being loaded up before too long, deer season is in now and people do go hunting. an ex USA - military is the owner of the forum you know - lots of talks about guns, ammo, and rifling in the off topic sections normally, although here lately its been on the down-low.

i respect your decision not to eat meat. but you should also respect others who choose not to follow a vegitarian diet too

in these parts, people are actually encouraged to go hunting deer for population control. it keeps driver's safe from deer running out in front of them, keeps disease as well as other carnivore predators at bay.

Sorry Bud, didnt post it to offend anyone. I know a lot of fellows on here who hunt and thought they would enjoy it. As for not eating meat for what ever reason, I have no problem with that.

nice deer bro!

the rut is kicking in here bigtime. I passed on a couple 120's because Ive seen a couple 140-150's. Its so hard to pass on those feakin deer after sitting for hours on end...but its worth the reward if it all works out
Today at the place in Md where I take my deer to be processed was an 8 point 180lb from the eastern shore, no more than 50 miles from me

I go and hunt in Va. They hunt…..Scratch that, they chase deer with dogs then 15-20 guys with buck shot shoot at the deer….not hunting in my book, not "fair game". So I go early before that starts kicking. They do not manage the deer very well and to get anything over an 8 point is rare. In my 6 years hunting there I have seen two 8 pt and one 10 point, the 10 pt is on my wall.

I prefer the smaller deer for food but I would luv to see some management down there so I could watch some deer from year to year improve. I see a lot of 3x2 2x3 racks that should be taken out of the gene pool.

Oh I do respect the decision to eat meat, I respect anyone's dietary decisions as long as they respect mine, I'm sorry for speaking out about this but I feel offended when it's presented to me visually or if someone shoves their ideology in my face.

I only got offended because it was unexpected. I'm sorry.

That's okay man. I'm sorry for getting offended, it was just a shock to me. people hunt dears and foxes over in England too, so don't feel like I'm bashing your culture or anything, I understand why many think it's a good thing to do but I can't agree with it. I would happily eat meat if it was needed and I killed it myself and I'd rather kill meat for my family than buy it in a supermarket. The image of the dead dear was a shock to me more than the act of killing it.

I used a Remington 870 with a T6 tactical stock, Rifled barrel with canter leaver scope mount. The ammo was a Remington Hollow point Jacketed bullet. They are accurate up to 150 yards and stop deer in there tracks.

Clean kill, YES. I enjoy hunting and providing food for my family. It is healthier than Beef with all the hormones and steroids they use and cholesterol free, except when I cook the back straps in butter MMMmm. I would not take a shot I didnt feel confident with, One Shot One Kill, Its not fair to the animal and I would not enjoy seeing him suffer, that would sadden me. Some Humans on the other hand I would shoot so they would suffer. Anywayyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

I will try to get a pic of my shotgun today and post it. Had Back Straps for breakfast and Thanked god for allowing me to provide food for my 2 boys and some good friends yesterday. MMMmmmm cant wait for lunch, the mash potato idea sounds great.

In the USA we have more deer than in the early 1700's. With less land for them and a lot less food sources, if they are not managed and over populate they starve, not to mention how many are killed year round in populated areas by vehicles. Those hit by vehicles usually do not die and have to be put down from injuries. A deer through a car window can kill you and the deer gets up and runs away. I live in a heavily populated area and last week seen a 4 and 8 pt buck in the road, most people do not even realize they are around here til they total their car. Google Severna Park, Md. on a map and how many live in the area.
