Need a headshell for my Peavey 5150 combo!?

Hey Guys,
I have a 1995 Peavey 5150 combo and I'm wanting to have a headshell made for it. Amp sounds really good after I had some small tweaks done to quiet it down and installed some top notch glass,,,,but
lugging this 90lb. behemoth to a gig is just horrible. A head version of this would be great,,so I'm trying to find out if anyone can recommend a solution.
Ive tried BFG Cabs,,,but he is in the process of moving out to the Midwest and won't be taking jobs until next summer.
Anyone know of a solid outfit that I could have make me a head shell?

I don’t know of anybody who makes head shells for those things. All the converted ones I’ve seen look like somebody took a saw to the combo and made a head out of it themselves.

It would be great if somebody would build some standard conversion kit or something though. Everybody I’ve talked to who has one of those combos feels the same way about it.

The issue is the layout, you end up with the back plugs/controls on top of the amp if you want to make it a proper head with the faceplate on the front.

Close to saying fuck it and just building a shitty plywood box around the chassis

Some years back, I made a pine box for the chassis of my Demeter TGA-3 combo. Wood, screws, glue, used goat collar and conduit clamps for the handle (these were free), blue grill cloth on clearance from Mojotone...$35 total for the shell, maybe. I made the matching 2x12 below it for a pinch more (not incl. the $peakers). Studio shot....

Looks like crap, but it did the job just fine.

Love my OG combo, but it’s much more practical for me without the cab attached.

I had Rawcabs make a cab for a Marshall 4010, which is kind of a rare bird. Very good quality build for a reasonable price. Lots of builders on Reverb will do one offs if you message them. I got a really nice bare headshell for an SLO-30 for $100 a while back.
