Hey guys, I am putting together my big rack and need a new cab. I want to upgrade to a 4x12, because my avatar 2x12 just won't cut it. At my local guitar center there is an randall warhead 4x12 (has V30's) for 300$, and I'm wondering if it is worth it to trade my avatar 2x12 with v30's for the randall cab. Any input is appreciated!

I don't know how many other people use these, but some of the best cabs I've heard in my life are my EVH 5150 III cabs. Absolutely everything sounds good through these things. I just got a Bogner Uberkab today though, and it sounds ultra badass too, but just in a different way. So far, these are the 2 best cabs I've heard since I got into buying and trying gear 3 years ago, and I've gone through alot of cabs. Hope that helps!

seems like a damn good price on the Randall cab, and Randall can make a good cab when they want to.

you most likely take a beating on your trade in, will have to figure if taking your lumps on it is worth the ease of the trade? if you wanted to hustle a little, you could put some crap speakers in there and then trade the cab and sell the V30's.

somebody had a thread about 15% off on used stuff at GC for the weekend. 15% off of 300 = $255.

I never thought about the 5150 cab. There have been a few around, and it sounded great when someone was trying out the 5153 through it, but I don't have enough money for one. I just wanted a cheap cab that would sound good with my new rack.

I also read about that coupon from guitar center. That would help a lot, because I would probably get $175 for the avatar cab, then I would only have an $80 dollar difference.

I just got a Bogner Uber cab, and will sell ya the new, 8 Ohm speakers (V30's / G12-75's) from that.....if you need them, once you trade in your cab.

I don't think I will need those speakers outlaw. Since the cab has V30's, and g12-75's don't sound great with the amp going in my rack. Thanks though.

Tough decision... If money is your main concern, I'd keep my eyes open on CL and ePay for the next couple weeks, as well as check through the RT classifieds. Something oughta come up. As for the Randall cab, it could be alright, but you won`t know till ya giver...which is always a gamble.

I`ve not had TOO much experience with all sorts of cabs, I`ve basically found the ones I like and have stuck with em, but they`re not cheap. So it goes.

Peace,
V.

why not try and sell the avatar 2x12 outright instead of trading it in at GC ? you should be able to get more than that for it i would think

True, I would probably get $300 selling it locally and save money that way.

unless you know somebody at the GC, i figure they'd give you about $100 for your 2x12. they usually give you half of what they can sell stuff for.

times are tough out there. high end cabs like Mesa, Bogner, etc. are going for $500, in the past GC would have been asking $400 or more for the Randall.

i think the $300 is a good price on the Randall considering it's GC. the positives for GC are the 30 day return policy, the negatives are sales tax, and they probably won't give you shit for your cab.

check out your Craiglist, and check some completed listing on ebay and that should help you decide what to do.
