I’m in the process of putting together a home studio and need advice on which audio interface or device do I need to hook up the following pieces to my set of studio monitors

1. Roland Keyboard
2. Fractal Audio Axe FX 3
3. Kemper Rack Profiler
4. Soldano x88ir rack preamp
5. Synergy Syn 2 rack preamp
6. Friedman IR-X preamp

I’m looking for a device that will allow my to have all 6 of the devices above connected to my computer and to a single pair of studio monitors. I think that I’m looking for an audio interface with 6 line inputs, but I could be wrong. Could someone recommend the interface/ device that will allow me to achieve what I stated above? Price is not an issue here.

Thanks!

Are you looking to record or just want to play?
Is the keyboard USB just midi or does it have sound you want to play?

If you just want to use the keyboard for midi over usb, then just plug into your pc directly. Map it in your DAW.

The axe-Fx can be your audio interface. It is essentially an audio interface. All the rest can be plugged into the Axe-Fx and then the USB interface on the Axe to your PC. The studio monitors I assume are plugged into whatever audio output you have on your PC. Then you can use the AxeFx for power amp sym (or not) and your Cab IR’s. You can still record this way too through a DAW of choice.

I use the AxeFx as the routing center of my studio. I have an Amp Switcher with 8 amps that hit a Suhr Reactive Load and then into the AxeFx for Cab IRs. I use another in/out on the AxeFx to hit my Time based effects (delay reverb, etc…). That enters my computer through the USB of the AxeFx. But you can also use your AxeFx for effects.

There are a lot of routing possibilities with the AxeFx, if you want to try that, let me know and I can get more detailed for you.

At this point, a lot of even the budget interfaces have quality converters and preamps. I’ve owned lots of different interfaces and my all time favorite is the now discontinued Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt. Even though I have the big brother Apogee Symphony I/O, I prefer the Ensemble. 8 preamps, two guitar inputs (the best sounding Hi-Z JFET inputs I’ve ever heard), two reamp outputs, two headphone outs, 1 rack space. Rock solid functionality, top shelf converters. There’s a couple of refurbs on the Apogee website for about $2800, but you can find them used for under $1000. You can make a professional grade album with one of those. Ola Englund still uses his after everything he has available to him, if that means anything to you. But if you’re a hobbyist just looking for functionality you’d be perfectly fine with a Focusrite 18i20.

Thank you for the offer. I would like to go with your suggestion but will definitely need help. Can you provide more details to get things started?

Yes, can you list your equipment and do you want to record it just play through your studio monitors? You can hit me with a PM and we can talk there if you want as well.
