Price check please: 2009 '68 RI VOS - $3299
It's on CL but its from a shop about an hour away, so I can play it.
It's faded white and I'm a huge Randy fan.

Not bad. Depends on condition. If it's in good shape and plays good... I'd go for it.

I paid just about that for my mint 2007 shipped from Japan in aged white. You obviously are going to barter so yes that's what they run. Just make sure it's got all the case candy and such. Also look into your budget and think about pulling the 57 classics out and putting something hotter in. I put a set of Duncan Black Winters in mine and it's just crazy heavy sounding. Just my $.02

+1 on the pup upgrade. I've got an SD Jazz/Distortion combo in one and a Suhr Aldrich set in another. Both sound phenomenal.

Buy a Norlin. Real ebony fingerboard, slim maple neck, no weight relief. Way less than $4500

Decent pickups too. Unless you're a stickler for 50's specs, Norlin-era Gibsons are definitely worth checking out. I love mine.

I have 3 Norlin LPs, 2 customs and a Standard, an EDS 1275, and an Explorer, all 1981s and I love them.

Alright. Comin' clean. I'm pussin' out.

I'm going to get a Precision 59 kit and a Warmoth Tele for less than half of my original budget.

I've got two kids in college so I can't be a high roller yet.

Hopefully this thread helped SpiderWars find one.

You have your priorities straight! That was one reason I started buying higher end stuff used to get it 40-60% off of what someone else paid for new ;) I'd only spend huge bucks theses days on real vintage stuff....I'd never pay 5k plus for anything brand spankin new
