OK, here's the story: I bought a TC Helix but it kind of sucks. It sounded really cool because of the Toneprint thing, but the Toneprint software sounds a neater than it actually is. I think something is wrong with it too because when I switch the toggle, I have to move the knobs because it wants to remember the last settings I used in that mode regardless of where the knobs are currently set. It just sucks and doesn't sound that great, so I'm going to replace it.

What I need want is a natural sounding phaser that I can use for subtle effect, clean and dirty, most of the time. I don't care about all those alien effects that some effects pedals go into, but it would be nice to have at least a moderate range of phase sounds. I want to control the level/intensity/mix of the effect as well as the timing, but I don't want more than 4 or 5 knobs/switches.

Another important thing is that I don't like the way some modulator pedals take away the sparkle of the high end, change the feel of the pick attack, or mess with the volume of the amp. I want something that will not interfere with my tone but also not sound like it's riding on top of it either. Just a natural sounding phaser. What suggestions might you have at $250 and under?

I'm waiting for something on this thread...A phaser with a mix knob is like solid gold.

This. I've got an MXR Zakk Wylde Phaser. It's kinda meh. I bought it because it was a dirt cheap sale on Amazon.
